Kat’s POV
After enduring another period of Science and Math (Which I did not have with Jeff.), I finally got to go home. Of course I was not alone for a long period of time though. “I’M HOME!!!!” Riley yelled as she burst through my front door. “Nice to see you too Riley” My dad chuckled. “Oh, hi Mr. Thompson.” She said sheepishly. “Riley…” he sighed, “how many times to I have to tell you to call me Eric.” He said. “Again, sorry,” she smiled. He chuckled at made his way into the kitchen. As soon as he left the room, Riley was practically shoving me up the stairs. “You need to get ready for your date!” she whisper-yelled. “And you have got some explaining to do.” She reprimanded. I rolled my eyes and caught myself as I almost tripped on the stairs. Riley didn’t even notice. What a jerk.
As soon as we got into my room, she was already throwing things out of my closet, searching for ‘the perfect outfit’. Her words, not mine. I sat on my bed and opened up Instagram. I sighed, scrolling through my feed; nothing interesting. “So, you plan on telling me why you’re going on a date with a guy you don’t even like?” She asked, though it was more like a command. I groaned in response. I didn’t want to talk about it. She stopped searching for a minute and sat on my bed. “Kat…….Kat………Kat! Kat!!!! KAT!” She annoyed me. “WHAT.” I said, interrupting her. She smirked. She knew what she was doing the bum. “Fine……..” I drawled. “I don’t know maybe it was the intense amount of hope in his eyes when he asked me.” I said. Well, it was partially true. “You did it out of pity?” She questioned. Now I understood the look of confusion on her face. I never did something out of pity; or for anything, really.
“Yeah.” I trailed off slightly. She cocked her eyebrow. “Seriously? I find that hard to believe. Like, no offense, but, you’re kind of mean.” She said. I didn’t take offense. I was kind of mean. I chuckled. “I am, aren’t I?” I laughed. I have no idea what was so funny, but I kept laughing. Riley smiled and I saw her giggle at my odd outburst. After calming myself, I finally answered her. “Yeah I did do it out of pity, but also something else……” I said. Now she was interested. “What?” she asked. I sighed, I had to tell her. “I saw Jeff ask some ditzy brunette out, and it just got on my nerves. I don’t even know why! I don’t even like the guy!!!!” I explained. She looked as if she were thinking really hard. “Okay.” She said before she got up and went back to my closet.
Before I could respond she yelled, “I FOUND YOUR OUTFIT!” I sighed and smiled, making my way to my closet. I walked in to find a beautiful outfit set out for me. I hated telling Riley that she did good, because she always had that smug look on her face; I was just making her ego even bigger. The outfit consisted of a pair of black jeans, oxford style wedges, and a dark blue peplum top. I smiled, she knew me so well. The heels were maybe an inch, so it didn’t give me too much height, but I was okay with that. Anything higher, I wouldn’t be able to walk in! I shooed her out and put the outfit on, adding my black leather jacket over it.
I stepped out of my closet and I watched as she looked smug. “I’m good,” was all she said. I rolled my eyes at her and put my makeup on. I released my long blonde curls and did a quick spin for my best friend. She smiled and told me how gorgeous I looked. I told her to stuff it and that she was way prettier, and we fought about who was prettier until my phone buzzed signaling I had a new text. I checked my phone to see that it was Garrett.
I’ll be there in about 5 minutes. I’ll wait outside. Xo, Garrett.
I sighed and turned my head to see Riley reading over my shoulder. She smirked, told me ‘good luck’ and left. I said ‘Bye’ to dad, and texted my mom.
I’ll be home a little late tonight, only because it’s Friday. I’m heading out with a couple of friends from school. I already told Dad. I love you and I’ll see you tomorrow. Xo, Kat
I smiled content with my text and headed out the door. I decided to wait for Garrett on the steps. It was nice out anyway. After a couple minutes of waiting, Garrett pulled up and got out of the car. “Hi.” He said. “Hey.” I said so much calmer than he was. “Uhm, we have a slight change in plans…” he trailed off. “O-kay.” I said, “What is it?” I asked. “It’s actually a double date.” He explained as he opened the door. I looked inside to see a smirking Jeff and the ditzy brunette from earlier.
I was going on a double date with Jeff.
This should be interesting.
