Kat’s POV
The silence had been killing me. Ace hadn’t come back yet. It had at least been 4 hours. Granted, there wasn’t a clock for me to look at, I was simply estimating considering I had nothing else to do but pass time. I grunted, deciding to find a way out of here. I looked towards the window I saw before and examined it. I would be able to fit through there. I quietly began pulling my ankles out of the ropes. I managed to get my right ankle out, which I could then use to get my left one out as well.
I bit my lip, trying to figure out where I could go next. I stood up, the chair still on my back, and walked towards the wall. I braced myself before slamming the chair against the cement wall. It didn’t break; so I slammed it against the wall again. This time, I was able to get my arm out of the restraints. I pulled my other arm out and dropped the chair. I quickly made my way over to the wall that the window was on. I reached up and got a firm grip on the ledge. I pulled myself up and pushed the window open. I gently slipped the upper half of my body through the window.
I was almost through the window when I heard a voice. “KAT! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING! GET THE HELL BACK HERE!” I heard Ace yell. I yanked my foot through the window and quickly closed it; I was left on the roof of the building. I grabbed some random heavy thing that had been sitting near the window and pushed it in front of the window. I continued sprinting across the roof. “KAT GET BACK HERE! YOU’RE GOING TO PAY FOR THIS! KAT!” Ace continued yelling, running behind me.
How the hell did he get out?
Finally I was at the end of the roof and there was nowhere else to go except down and into the river. I turned, seeing Ace slowly stop, a menacing look on his face. “Well sweetheart, you have nowhere else to go. So why don’t you come here and we can go back into this nice building.” He said, grinning creepily. “Over my dead body.” I said, before turning around and jumping off the building into the river. Suddenly everything was in slow motion as I was free-falling through the air. I was finally free, all of my worries were lifted and I was completely at peace. That was until I hit the cold, hard, surface of the water.
I came up sputtering and coughing. There was an extreme pain in my left side as I tried to swim towards the dock, then thinking that wasn’t so great of an idea, I turned and began swimming towards the grass. I pulled myself up and sat down on the edge, taking in mouthfuls of air. I hunched over, holding my side. I must’ve broken a rib when I landed in the water. I gritted my teeth and stood up, slowly beginning to walk towards the main road. “KAT! KAT COME BACK HERE!” I heard Ace yelling distantly. I forced myself to begin running. I made it out to the road and began running through the streets. I stopped myself on the hood of a car that had stopped right before it hit me.
“Help!” I cried. “Somebody call the police!” I pleaded. A woman came out a boutique to see what all the commotion was about and saw me. “Help! Please! Call 911!” I cried, not being able to move. The police arrived and over all the chaos I was able to hear Jeff’s voice. “Kat!” he shouted, trying to find me. I took off sprinting towards his voice. I jumped into his arms, burying my face in his neck and hugging him tightly. The tears flowed freely as I collapsed in his arms.
Once I was there with Jeff, everything around us was lost. It was only Jeff and I. We were the only ones that mattered, the only two people in the world.

A/N: Oh my good gravy. This is going to be the last chapter before the epilogue. That is honestly so sad. This is kind of a short book but I think it’s okay. I think that they have honestly gone through enough heartbreak in this book that it does not need to continue any longer. Of course their story will continue, it will only be for them however. It will not be written down.
Anywhale, love you guys xo
