Kat’s POV

“When can I see him?” I asked anxiously, wringing my hands. The doctor’s expression turned apologetic. “I’m sorry. Family only.” He said. I sighed and closed my eyes. “But, I can probably get you in.” He said, smiling slightly. I let out a breath of relief and thanked him before heading towards Jeff’s door. “Room 103, room 103…” I muttered to myself, trying to find his room quickly.

I stood in front of his door, my hand on the knob and took in a deep breath before pushing the door open. He laid there, bandages wrapped around him, he looked so broken. His face was pale, his body was limp, but he was still him. I covered my mouth with my hand, already feeling the tears pooling in my eyes.

I wish he wasn’t here; I wish I could go back 3 hours and just not go to that stupid ball. He wouldn’t be lying in this hospital bed so limp. Maybe if we had just left a little earlier, this wouldn’t have happened. Why did that goddamned man have to be driving while he was drunk? I didn’t even realize that I was sobbing, just standing there by the door.

conscious. “Baby…. Please don’t cry…” He pleaded with me. All I could do was sob. It was as if my legs just told my brain that they weren’t moving. “Come here” He murmured, holding his arm out to me. My body gave in and soon I was walking, well more like limping, over to the bed.

He pulled me onto the bed with him, and I laid my head on his chest. “I’m so glad that you’re okay.” I whispered, closing my eyes. “Me too.” He murmured, stroking my hair. Suddenly I sat up, realization washing over me. “Oh my god! Did I hurt you? I’m sorry, are you okay?” I asked guiltily. He chuckled. “Baby, I’m fine.” He smiled slightly.

“I’m sorry.” I whispered, tears pooling in my eyes yet again. His eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. “For what?” he asked, his voice soft. “I’m just sorry that all of this happened.” I said, covering my face in an attempt to stop the tears. “Baby, it wasn’t your fault. Look, I’m okay, you’re okay. We’re both okay.” He said. “Okay?” he asked. I nodded, wiping the tears. “Yeah.” I murmured.

“Now, will you come here?” He asked, a mischievous glint in his eyes. I, of course, ignored it and sat myself down next to him. “Look at me.” he murmured, stroking my arm. I turned to him, laying my legs over his. “You’re really beautiful, you know that?” He said quietly, pushing a strand of hair away from my face.

Do not blush, do not blush, DO NOT BLUSH.

So what did I do? I blushed.  He chuckled slightly, taking in my red face before his face turned serious. He leaned in so his face was about an inch from mine, his lips so close. Our breaths mingled together as I struggled to remind my heart to continue beating.

“Kat..?” He murmured, his lips moving a half an inch closer. “Yeah?” I asked breathlessly. “I think I love you.” He said before crashing his lips onto mine. He grabbed the side of my face, stroking my cheek. I tangled my hand in his hair and set the other one on his chest. Jeff slowly began laying us both down, me on top of him, since the hospital bed was only so big.

I pulled away and just looked at him, his lips were a little puffy and his face was flushed. “Wow.” I mumbled. He chuckled, clasping his arms around my waist. I laid my head on his chest, drifting off into sleep, but before I fell asleep, I made sure that I somewhat mumbled. “I love you, Jeff.” I murmured quietly, feeling myself being pulled into sleep, but before I fully drifted off I heard him murmur, “I love you too, Kat.”

A/N: This is a super short chapter; it’s kind of like a filler because I have yet to figure out where exactly I’m going from here. Their story is most definitely not over, there is plenty that has yet to be written, but I’m not sure where their story is heading yet, so I may be a couple months before I update this one again. I’m not so sure.
