When we arrived at "El Rodeo Grande," Jack went to the counter to check us in. He motioned us to come over to him.
"She has a table ready!" Jack said.
We were lucky! There usually isnt an open table when we go out to eat, because there is usually so many of us. I sat down first, around the middle. Rosie sat on my right.
She smiled and whispered, "Tell Hayes to sit next to you."
"No! Ill let him sit where he wants to!" I whispered back, trying to be quiet so no one, especially Hayes, wouldnt hear.
"Fine, but he's going to sit there anyway. He would probably like you to let him know that it is okay with you." She said softly.
Sure enough, Hayes sat down on my left. Rosie winked at me and gave me the 'I told you' face. I made an ugly, childish face back at her and we both laughed.
"Hi." Hayes said plainly.
I dont know why I am mad right now, but he just said 'Hi.' with the dullest tone. Why couldnt he say 'Gosh you looked nice at that party' or 'Hey beautiful.' Whatever, fight it off Eliza.
"Hey! Whats up birthday boy?" I asked, wanting to start a good conversation.
He looked sad while he replied, "Nothing much, but my great grandma just go run over by an 18 wheeler and my Mom told me about 5 minutes ago."
No wonder he just said hi.
I tried to comfort him by saying, "Oh my Gosh Hayes! I am so sorry! What can I do to help?"
All of a sudden, Hayes started laughing. What? Why was he laughing? His great grandma just got run over by a truck!
"OH MY GOD! I WAS KIDDING!" Hayes exclaimed, still laughing as hard as ever.
I punched him lightly on the shoulder and joined into his laughter. I'm sure you could hear us from a mile away, but we didnt care.
When our laugh attack stopped, I said, "Hayes, why would you say that? I was upset for you!"
Hayes smiled and replied, "Because I like seeing you laugh. You're cute."
I blushed.
"Thanks Hayes, you too." I responded, not knowing how to reply.
We continued talking and then the waitress came and asked us what we wanted to eat. I ordered tacos. When the food came, we all ate super fast, because we are all growing teenagers, and we were super hungry.
"That was so good!" Nash said.
I nodded in agreement. We paid and went back to the limo, which had been waiting outside for a while. We drove back to the hotel, and Hayes and I continued to talk the rest of the way.
