Chapter Twenty-Six

Hayes and I were silent the rest of the way home.  Every now and then he would look into my eyes and smile, but no words were exchanged.  When we all arrived at the hotel, everyone got out and went to Jack and JJ's room.  

As soon as the door shut behind Nash, Cameron screamed, "OH MY GOD HAYES! DUDE THAT WAS AMAZING!"

Nash added, "YEAH!  NOW WE HAVE TO GET A VINE OF YOU TWO TOGETHER!" 

Hayes was blushing.  For once in my life, I decided to be the first to act.  I took Nash's phone from his hand, clicked the "Film" button on the Vine app, and held down the circle.  

I leaned in next to Hayes and said, "Hey everyone!  I'm Eliza Gilinsky, and this is my new boyfriend Hayes Grier."  

Before the seconds had ended, Hayes kissed me, and then I released my finger.  I looked around the room, and everyone was in shock.  Matt and Rosie were sitting with their mouths wide open, looking without blinking.  Why was this such a shock to everyone?  We've kissed before!  

"Let me see it." Hayes said softly.

The Vine was perfect.  He kissed me at the right exact moment, and everything flowed so well.  God, I sound like a stupid girl blinded by love.  Hayes laughed and kissed me again.  Wow.  I kind of like this...a lot.  

Rosie came up behind me and said, "You look fat, Shrek."

Rosie and I laughed.  

"I was wondering where you went." I said, still giggling.

Hayes put his hands on his hips and said, "Why did you talk to my girlfriend like that?"

Girlfriend.

Rosie said while putting her hands up in surrender, "Sorry, didnt realize you were so protective!" 

Hayes laughed and pushed Rosie away.  Nash came up and elbowed me in the side.  I looked up and he was smiling and winking.  Then, Jack's phone began to ring.  He stepped into Rosie and I's room.  We all decided to take a few more Vines.  

"Eliza, you need to come here right now." Jack said after appearing from my room.

The fun in the room faded away, and I slowly walked over to him.  Why did he seem so upset?  He never calls me Eliza.  Never.

"What is it?" I whisper.  

I  know the whispering doesnt do any good, because I know everyone is watching and listening.  

"Here.  Talk." Jack demanded.

I took his phone and held it into my ear. 

"Hello?" I asked nervously.

"Hello Eliza, this is your father.  I am so sorry I havent spoken to you in all these years, but here I am.  It look me a very long time to find your contact.  How are you?"  My father said quickly.

I could feel the tears welding up in my eyes.  I knew I was going to break.  Right here in front of everyone.  

I think Rosie could tell, because she took me by the arm and said, "It's okay.  It's okay."

I dropped the phone on the bed and said, "No, it's not." 

I ran out of the room.  I wasnt sure where I was going, but I knew I had to leave.
