Part 8: testing

Junkrat-
As the days went by people were getting more and more excited about Christmas. Lena had been acting like she hadn't ever been shot, and my nightmares were less common, things were going pretty good if you ask me. We had all just finished our daily training and were all relaxing and hanging around. I noticed today that Lena had been acting all nervous and distant and I was worried about her, she had never acted like this before.
I was playing video games with Hana when Lena came in,"hey Jamie, could I see you for a sec?" I couldn't even stand up before she grabbed my arm and zoomed off. We had ended up outside on a nearby cliff. "What's this all about mate?" I questioned, I was seriously getting concerned."I-I need to tell you something" she replied, we sat down on a  bench. "It's ok mate you can tell me anything!" I said trying to lighten up the mood. "Ok, but i-it's a secret and I don't think I can trust you to keep it". I was disappointed, she couldn't trust me with anything and I'm like her best friend. "Hey don't worry, if it's personal I'll keep my mouth shut". She looked at me,"you have to promise though" she said said sticking her pinkie out for a pinkie promise. "I promise" I replied and we pinkie promised. "O-k this is really hard to say this b-but I'm...Jamie I'm g-gay" she cringed in response, as if I was going to yell at her."hey mate that's fine by me, I don't really care if your gay or not and I'll still treat you the same way" I patted her on the back. "G-good, I thought you would say differently." She responded, turning back into the same Lena I know. We walked back to the base together and enjoyed some Chinese food.

Roadhog-
I've only been here for a few days, and everywhere I went death always lurked. I couldn't go one day without seeing death, it was awful. But one thing that kept me going was the hope in the city, if I had been in the city when it flooded I wouldn't even try to be optimistic, but these people were very optimistic. The children would be playing games and talking, and the adults would help rebuild the city. Also there was the letters, everyone back at HQ wrote us letters and even sometimes sent gifts and extra food for the civilians. So my mission wasn't that bad, the beds were pretty bad and it didn't really support my weight and it was a twin bed, so that was a plus. But somehow I had managed. I had gotten to get Jamison's gift up above me so I could see it before I go to sleep and when I wake up. Me and the others played cards and talked, it was the only thing we could do in our free time, only a few more days until our mission was over.

Junkrat-
I observed people throughout the day to see who might like who. And found some pretty interesting stuff, but here was some things that really caught my eye, soldier and mercy, Mccree and hanzo,  genji and zenyatta, and a few others. It was a whole new side of the over watch team that I had never seen before.
The next day we were all called in for a practice situation, we would all be tested to our limits to see what would happen. I knew it from the start that today would be bad. They had hooked our brains up to something that had I deepest and darkest memories and other bad stuff, oh god.
Everyone's experience was pretty scary to them I guess, the least scariest one was Hana's, hers was that she didn't save the point were she was at in a video game. Most of us laughed at that. then it was my turn, I sort of knew what I would be getting into, it probably being like my nightmares. I looked back to see Hana and Lena were already hovering by the emergency cancel button. I entered and everything was black, then everything faded into view, everyone could see what I was seeing, and just that feeling sent shivers down my spine. The test made me wear virtual reality so it was like       Reexpmeienceing it first hand. The screen was still black though, and I started to sweat. I jumped to the sound of explosions. Then I was in the sewers with roadhog. Oh fuck, this was the first night of the crisis. I didn't have my prosthetic leg than so most of the time roadhog carried me on his shoulder(note that he was still pretty young at the time), we had reached the end of the sewer and were trying to get some sleep. Then we heard clattering from the man hole above us, roadhog hid me as best as he could and told me to be quiet. He pulled out his blade And his with me. The man hole opened and a group of men climbed down the ladder. Roadhog waited until he thought all of the men made it down, he ran up and fought with the men. He was winning for awhile until someone had gotten the advantage and then he was losing, and the group gained up on him, the only thing I could do was watch in horror. But then I remembered something, roadhog had left and extra pistol in his bag which was right by me. I silently reached for his bag and got out his gun, this was the first time I had held a weapon and I was scared shitless. I aimed at one of the men's head and squeezed the trigger *bam* he had dropped, then I shot again and again and again *bam bam bam* the only thing I could see now was a mountain of bodies, my hands were shaking and I was still pulling the trigger as if there was more ammo but there wasn't. After a minute I had dropped the gun, and went back in the corner of the sewer curled up in a ball. I tried my hardest not to cry, but it was pretty hard. My eyes started to close and I fell asleep, explosions now a background noise.
The test had ended, and I made it through. I took the virtual reality headset off and exited the room, and sat back down with everyone else. Lena notice that I was shaking, she wrapped her arm around me. "It must've been so hard for you to do all that" Lena whispered. I nodded in response still shaking, I needed roadhog back.
