Carlos

"cats or dogs?" I asked Jezabelle.

"dogs. but cats are alright too," she answered. "okay, starbucks or ice cream?"

"mmm...ice cream. Instagram or twitter?"

she winced. "that's a hard one. maybe insta. summer or winter?"

"summer definitely. yeezy's or vans?"

"vans," she immediately said. "because I've never owned a pair of yeezy's,"

"well we can change that," I laughed as I turned to drive my car into MMP's private parking lot.

Jezabelle and I were in a game of 'this or that' to kill the drive to the park. we were back from spring training and the team and I were now settling back home for our home opener.

I'll admit, having Jezabelle around still felt brand new. sure she had been back for about two months after her one week stay in Denver, but I still couldn't believe it.

the way she left without warning was devastating to say the least.

I tried to make up the lost time with her when we were all in Florida and she enjoyed it.

she was calm, but I noticed the way she hung around me was more secure, almost as if she had to be around me at all times.

and I wouldn't have it any other way. she said she wasn't going to leave again, and that's all that mattered.

"music...or photography?" I asked her after we got a few of my bags from the car.

"you ask me hard ones Carlos! I don't know, music maybe?" she slid a bag up her arm and instantly laced her thin fingers with mine.

I was beginning to ask her so many questions because I felt that she would still leave at any moment she wanted.

truthfully, I knew that she didn't need me and that she'd be fine on her own. but it was just something about her that I didn't want to lose.

I just wanted to know even more about her just in case a moment would come where she would end up leaving without a return.

"zoos, or aquariums?" she asked as we made our way into the building.

"for sure zoos, but fish are cool too,"

José and Marwin's bodies were in a distance as we headed down to the locker room.

"okay, José or Marwin?" she looked up at me and smirked.

I scoffed. "don't do that!" I laughed. "they're both on the same level,"

"hey guys!" José and Marwin both greeted.

"José! Marwin!" Jezabelle yelled, throwing her arms up to give hugs.

she had already seen them when we were all in Florida but I guess she missed them, the same way I had missed her.

"wifeys are in the family room up front," Marwin told her after they released from each other.

she smiled warmly. "I'll be up there then. see you guys later," she handed me my bag.

"wait!" I stopped her.

I glanced back at José and Marwin as a way of telling them to give us space. they got the memo and walked into the locker room.

"what's wrong?" she asked.

"one last question," I said. "square, or circle?"

she tilted her head and looked oddly at me. "square...I guess. what does that even mean?"
