It took me hours to calm myself down and to be able to go back home. And of course, no one was there when I arrived. Y/N was gone, her stuff nowhere; and there was no sign of Jack whatsoever.

I just sighed and went to my room, slowly closing the door and heading towards the bed. As I laid down, I pulled my phone out and dialed Y/N' number. As I expected, she didn't answer. But I tried again and again, and then another 3 times. I finally gave up, crying my eyes out the whole night.

Jack came home early in the morning, being away almost the whole night.  I quickly got up and went towards my room's door, approaching him as he was passing by. As I stopped in front of him, we locked eyes. His were red and I could tell he was drunk. Mine had eye bags from the lack of sleep and concerns.

"Jack...",I started but my voice cracked. "I'm...really sorry."

He just gave an annoyed look, then passed by me and inside his room. Not a word, not a sign; and I realized I've lost my best friend too.

I took a deep breath and returned inside my own room, starting to pack my stuff. I couldn't stand being in that house anymore, full of memories. I watched my bed and I remembered Y/N between my sheets. I squeezed my eyes shut in an attempt to make it disappear.

So I booked a hotel room somewhere near London and in a couple of hours I was ready to go. I left my 2 months advanced rent to Jack, until he would finally find a new housemate. But I've doubted he would wanted to keep the house anyways.

I kept calling Y/N the whole day. I texted her, begging her to answer; to give me a chance to talk. She never did; not that day or any other day. At some point she disconnected the number and I got so panicked that I even called her best friend, Anna, to tell me what happened.

"She left the country, Thomas", she told me.

"What?!But..why?"

She took a deep breath, almost like thinking if she should answer me or not.

"Please tell me", I begged. "Is she okay?"

"She needed some time", she said then. "She decided to travel for awhile."

"Oh!Do you know when is she coming back?"

"No,I don't. In a couple of months I think."

I gulped at her answer. A couple of months without any chance of talking to her or seeing her; and many more other after that.

"Thanks,Anna."

I ended the call and I remained silent, watching the room's walls around me. I didn't know where to go and what to do; I suddenly felt lost.

I haven't seen Y/N since that night, no matter how hard I've tried to reach her. I could say I got over her, but something still tickles my heart whenever I think about her even now, after almost 2 years.

My career went well, I'm a well-known actor in his middle twenties, but without someone I could really love even now.

Today I'm on my way to sign my new charity campaign contract and to have a meeting with the marketing director. I arrived as usual 15 minutes earlier, just to settle down and have another look on the papers.

"Good morning, Mr. Sangster!", a voice called out for me and I tilted up my head, distracted.

And I froze in place.

"Y/N?!"

I stood up from my chair and approached her, wanting to hug her; but she took a step back, giving an apologetic smile.

"It's nice to see you too, Mr. Sangster, but we're running out of time and the top boarder wants the contract signed by noon."

"Mr.Sangster?", I asked in confusion. "Lo...Y/N, it's Thomas, what the bloody hell?!"

I frowned at her and she bit her lip in that way I've known very well.

"It's business, let's be professionals", she said and she frowned too."Please, take a seat."

She pointed to the chair I stood up from just a minute ago and she sat on the other chair in front of me.

I did as I was told, but with hundreds of questions in my mind; all of them for her to answer. And they were not about the stupid contract. I didn't care about it anymore.

"Mr.Sangster, do you understand these claims?", she asked me.

"Huh?Oh, yes. Of course." I nodded, not even knowing what she was talking about.

"Good, then the contract will be legalized from the second you will sign it", she explained and tapped the place where I had to put my signature.

"Okay, sounds good", I said and signed it in one second.

She smiled and nodded towards me.

"Anyother questions?" she asked.

"As a matter of fact, yes", I said. "Y/N, where have you been all this time?"

We locked eyes for a second, before she moved her gaze away.

"I've been busy. Traveling and working", she answered.

I gave her a slight smile and gently took her hand.

"I know we haven't seen each other for a long time, but can I buy you a coffee?"

Shes hook her head and smiled sadly.

"No you can't, Thomas."

She tried to pull away from me, but then I saw the engagement ring on her left hand.

"You'reengaged!", I exclaimed.

"Yes,I am", she answered.

"With Jack? I didn't know you guys...", I started to say but she cut me off.

"Not with Jack! I haven't talked to Jack since that night, two years ago,Thomas."

She gave me an annoyed look and stood up, ready to leave the office.

"Y/N,forgive me!", I told her again. "I tried to find you back then, but you were nowhere to be found."

"I know. I just wanted to disappear for a while", she answered."Everything was a bit...too much for me."

I felt bad for everything she told me. I opened my mouth to say something, but she stopped me.

"And I will very appreciate it if we could keep our relationship only on the business level."

I run my hand through my hair and sighed. "I still care about you, Y/N and I can't deny that."

"Well, you just have to do it. We have a lot of work to do together and I don't need you to screw everything up again."

I looked at her for a good minute before finally answering. "Okay, I understand."

"Good",she smiled. "Then, Mr. Sangster, I wish you a lovely day!"

With those last words, she turned on her heels and left the office. And I was left there, watching her leaving. At some point I really thought she was my present and my future; yet now I was watching my future leaving through a glass door and I couldn't do anything about it.
