I woke up laying on a concrete surface and I realised I was on one of the wooden beds from the Medjack's hut. A sudden movement on my right side made me notice Newt being in a deep thought, scratching the back of his neck. I watched him for a couple of seconds, his dirty blonde hair above his shoulders in a mass of ruffled strands; his toned arms flexing his muscles every now and then; his big brown eyes with long lashes that could make jealous every girl; his thin jaw I would kiss every night before resting my head on his chest.

I gulped remembering what happened during the Gathering and I wondered if that perfect man was still mine. He sensed my stare and moved his gaze towards me.

"Y/N, you're awake!" He rushed near me and grabbed my hand, smiling slightly. "Welcome back!"

And that was all. Not a single kiss, not calling me "love" like the way he used to. Just a smile, like we were good old friends.

"Thank you, love", I tried. He just looked intently into my eyes, unsure of what to say. I saw him swallowing and parting his lips, but then closing his mouth again. I sighed and moved my eyes from him, taking my hand back from his. I was hurt, but so was he.

"Y/N, we need to talk", he said after a couple of seconds of silence.

He didn't try to reach for my hand again. He didn't try to wipe my tears when they filled my eyes. He didn't try to release my bottom lip from between my teeth like he would often do.

He simply stood up and slowly walked towards the door. He stopped on the threshold for a second, resting his head against the door before mumbling a quiet "sorry".

"I'll see you later", he continued then left me in my misery.

Soon after that, I heard the sound of the door again and I felt a hand lightly squeezing my shoulder. My back was facing whoever has touched me and I realized it was Thomas only when he spoke.

"Are you okay?", he asked me.

"He won't believe me...", I simply said. My voice was weak and I had tears in my eyes, but Thomas ignored it, knowing how I hated to be treated like the weakest person in the Glade, just because I was a girl.

He took his hand away and sat on the chair near the bed, where Newt was seated just a couple of minutes ago.

"He didn't say he believes Gally either", he sighed. "He just needs time to take in everything."

I rolled my eyes and turned around to face Thomas.

"Do you believe me, Tommy? Do you really think I've cheated on Newt?"

"Of course not!"

He said it with such confidence that it almost made me believe his words.

"But what if I really did something and I just can't remember?"

Thomas fell in a deep thought for a couple of minutes, before reaching for a strand of my hair, pulling it behind my ear.

"Then we'll fix this mess somehow and we'll find out the truth", he smiled softly. "I was ready to tell Alby about our little game when that shucking alarm went off and you collapsed."

I frowned at his statement.

"You mean...the alarm for Newbies?"

"Exactly."

"How is that even possible? The box wasn't supposed to be here until next week."

"And guess what we received this month!"

Thomas looked intently into my eyes, waiting for my answer. And it was too obvious for me not to realise what it truly was.

"Another girl...", I gasped.
