Chapter 26: I'M STILL HERE

"JOAO, what are you doing? Where are we going?"

He is still holding my hand. We are out of the building now. Some girls passed by. Joao fixed his cap then looked down to hide his face. I looked down too and covered my face with my hair.

Feeling joao's hand holding mine is still so familiar to me.

He sighed. "Come here." Pumasok kami ulit sa building then went inside a room na walang tao. He locked the door.

Joao: "gusto sana kita dalhin somewhere pero mas mabuti na magusap muna tayo."

He walked towards me until he's just inches away from me. He held both of my hands. My heart is beating so fast.

Joao: "i'm not dreaming. Totoo ka nga. You are really back."

There's this soft expression on his face and i'm restraining myself from touching his face. I can't anyway. Cause he's holding my hands tightly. Like he really can't believe that i'm in front of him. That i'm really back.

Me: "no. Hindi ka nananaginip. It's really me, J."

He smiled. Soft, sweet smile.

Joao: "i missed that. You, calling me different nicknames. But J's my favorite."

He suddenly let go of my hands.

No, don't let go. I want to hold your hands a little bit longer.

Joao: "infinity." He said smiling.

Tinuro niya yung necklace ko. Yung necklace na binigay niya sakin. Yes. I still wear it. I always wear it.

Joao: "kamusta na baby natin?"

Huh?

Then, there's this sudden realization. Stupid, eya. He's talking about pompoms.

Joao: "si pompoms."

I laughed. Akala ko kasi kung sinong baby na. Tuwing namimiss ko si joao, i'll just play with pompoms. Then i'll feel a little bit better.

Me: "he's good. He still looks like his daddy."

He grinned.

*bzzt bzzt. Bzzt bzzt.*

Pfft. Panira ng moment.

Joao turned his back on me then answered his phone call.

Joao: "Ms. Tey."

Ms. Tey?

Joao: "okay. I'll be back. Okay, okay i'll be there don't worry i'm just inside the building. Bye."

He ended the call then faced me again. He sighed.

"Dang it." He whispered.

He scratched the back of his neck looking so frustrated.

Me: "may problema ba?"

Joao: "that's our road manager. Bigla kami ginawang surprise guest sa interview ni sarah."
