30 minutes later I get up and go to the bathroom. On my way back to the living room I hear voices coming from my moms room.

I walk over and hide by the door. I see my mom talking to Connor.

"She asked about Shane." Connor says. "What did you say?" Mom asks.

"I told her of course I knew him because they dated for 3 years." He says. "Why on earth would you say that? She can't know about him!" She yells.

"Why not?!" Connor asks. "Because then she'll start to realize that she can't remember a lot from the past." She says.

"So. What's wrong with that?" He asks. "She can't know. If she figures out about the car accident and why we moved away then she'll hate herself. She can't know about Shane or about what she did to him!" My mom says getting loud.

"But she has the right to know! She can't keep living a lie! One day she will find out about Shane and about how she ruined his and his families life. It's inevitable." Connor says.

He walks away from my mom. I quickly rush to the living room and act like I didn't hear their conversation.

Connor comes out and gives me a weak smile as he starts to walk away.

"Where are you going?" I ask. "I'm heading out. I need some fresh air." He tells me. "Oh ok." I say not trying to push.

I get a text from Scarlett asking if I wanna come over to hers for a movie night. I reply with a yes.

But then I realize something. I have to face Tod.

You would be thinking that's a good thing, but it's not. I've realize after thinking about it that I'm not ready for another relationship yet. I have to tell him that I don't wanna be his girlfriend.

I go into my moms room to ask her if I can go.

"Mom? Can I go over to Scarlett's?" I ask. "Sure. When will you be back?" She asks.

"I'll just stay there all day, so probably later tonight. Can you drive me?" I ask her. "Yeah of course. Are you ready to go?" She asks. "Yeah. Let's go." I say.

We head outside and get in the car. The drive is silent at first but then I ask the question on my mind.

"Mom, who's Shane Stevens?" I ask. She suddenly freezes and doesn't take off when the light turns green.

"Mom the lights green." I tell her. "Oh yeah." She says with a laugh as she drives.

"Answer my question please." I say. "Honey, I don't know a Shane Stevens." She says coolly.

"But Connor said we dated and I had a dream about him saying the same thing." I tell her. "Dreams are nonsense. And Connor was just messing with you. Trust me, you don't know anyone named Shane." She tells me.

"But then-" I start but she cuts me off. "I said you don't know him! So just leave it!" She yells.

I just stay quiet for the rest of the ride. When we get to Scarlett's I get out and go up to the door.

I knock but no one answers. I stand there for about 5 minutes, when someone finally answers. I'm relieved until I realize it's Pat.

"Hey Abbi." He says as he avoids eye contact. "Hey. Is Scarlett here?" I ask.

"Yeah, it's her house remember." He says. "Oh yeah." I say as I walk past him and into the kitchen.

When I get in there I see Tod. He comes over and tries to hug me, but I move out of the way.

"Can we talk? In private?" I ask. "Ok." He says.

So I drag him upstairs to Scarlett's room.

"I know you're not gonna like what I have to say but-" I start. "You're turning me down. Aren't you?" He asks in a quiet but definite voice.

"I just don't think I wanna go there with you." I say. "I knew it. I knew this wouldn't go my way. It's because of Pat isn't it?" He asks in a sad voice.

"No! I'm just not ready for another serious relationship right now!" I say getting loud. "Bull shit! You just can't get your fucking head out of Pat's ass!" Tod yells.

"That's not true!" I yell back. "Yes it is! You know what? I'm happy you said no. Because it really wouldn't have worked out. And I'm happy you did it before I had to tell you I decided not to date you!" Tod says as he storms out of the room.

I follow him down the stairs. At the bottom Coby tries to talk to him.

"Hey dude are you alright? What happened?" Coby asks. "None of your god damn business!" Tod yells at him as his rushes out the front door and slams it behind him.

"What was all of that about?" Haley asks. "Whatever it was about! God why do people have to get into other peoples business! Just leave it alone!" I yell.

I storm out of the front door and walk home.
