When I get back to where everyone is I can't find who was calling my name.
Then I hear it again from the woods. I can tell it was Justice now.
I run into the woods where I hear him and find him sitting on the ground crying.
"What's wrong?" I ask as I sit next to him.
"Carly and I where talking, then she was playing around and hid from me in here. But I heard her scream and now I can't find her anywhere. I'm really scared Abbi." He says as he buries his face in my neck and I rub his back.
"Are you sure you heard her scream?" I ask. "Yes! I was looking for her and then I heard her scream from far away, like someone was hurting her. I've been looking for her for an hour but she's gone." He says as he cries harder.
"Come on I'll help you find her." I tell him as I pull him off the ground.
We start looking through the woods while we yell her name. After an hour and still no sign of her we finally give up.
But as we're walking back I find something on the ground.
"What's this?" I say as I pick up a piece of ripped plaid cloth. "That's part of Carly's shirt!" Justice yells as he takes it out of my hand.
We start walking in the direction of where we found the shirt and I find another piece.
Then I see a trail on the ground, it looks as if it's from someone being dragged. Out of curiosity I follow it and Justice trails behind me.
I find a broken necklace on the ground with the word "Carly" inscribed in it. There's blood on the back of it and on the ground where I found it.
Then the trail stops abruptly. I turn around and see Justice crying again holding her necklace.
We quickly run back to the creek. When we get there I call the cops. They arrive within minutes.
After everyone is questioned they start searching for her, we all help.
While walking with Scarlett, Meredith, and Haley, Scarlett goes ahead of all of us. About 5 minutes later she stops abruptly.
"Is that a foot?!" She asks in a high pitched voice. She runs off the path and down a little hill, we all follow. Then she stops and starts breathing heavy.
"Oh my god! She's dead! There's blood everywhere!" Scarlett yells as she stands frozen in place.
I run over to her and just stare at Carly. My whole body freezes and Scarlett screams over and over as she hugs me and buries her head in my neck.
Meredith and Haley see the body then start screaming too. I just stand still in shock the whole time.
Within seconds everyone else comes rushing over and the cops force us out of the woods and away from the body.
When we get out all I can think about is their faces, 2 girls in 1 day. The realization of seeing dead bodies hits me all at once and I just collapse to the ground. I hear someone calling my name from what sounds like far away but I just ignore them.
I cover my ears and start crying hysterically, while my body shakes like crazy. I feel someone trying to shake me out of it but I just ignore them too.
Then someone picks me and carries me bridal style to a car. When the driver door closes I finally open my eyes and see Tod driving.
"Good, you're okay. I'm taking you home." He says as he rubs my leg in a comforting way. I just bury myself in the seat.
When we get to my house I refuse to move so Tod carries me inside. My mom isn't home because she has a shift at the hospital.
He carries me upstairs and sets me on my bed, then goes to walk away. But I stop him grabbing his arm.
"Please stay with me. I'm afraid to be alone." I plead quietly.
He doesn't say anything but just slides under the covers next to me.
"Thank you." I say. "No problem. You're my bestfriend, I'd do anything for you. I love you." He says quietly.
"I love you too bestfriend." I say.
It's as if Tod's arms are the most comforting place in the world at this moment. So I fall into a deep peaceful sleep, with Tod snoring next to me.
