Chapter 23; Things Aren't Pretty In An Apocalypse.

I smiled and laid back down on the floor.

I didn't hear Skylynn move or come back by me, so I sat up.

I saw that she was laying next to Carl under a cover. From my view it's so adorable.

"Goodnight Anna," I heard Carl say.

"Goodnight Carl," I say.

"Goodnight Glenn," he also says.

"I think he's asleep," I say.

Carl laughs and lays back down next to Skylynn.

They are across the room laying by the window that's covered in a thick layer of sheets. And ofcourse wood. There's just a little crack of moonlight shining through. I decide that it's probably safer if were all by eachother. You never know.

I sit back up.

I move closer to Glenn and Carl and tell Glenn to move closer to the other side of Carl.

"What's going on?" Carl says in a sleepy voice.

"I figured it would be safer if, we were closer to eachother. Ya know, if something bad happens." I say.

Carl looks at Glenn and and Glenn says,"I'll stay right here." He says looking at the floor next to the dresser. The dresser is right by the window.

Skylynn sits up and looks at Carl.

"Can I sleep next to Anna?" She asks.

"Of course," Carl says.

Sky scoots next to me and lays down under my blanket.

I look at Carl and slightly smile. I put my head down on the couch cushion and fall asleep.

The sun is shining slightly through the window and it forces my eyelids to open.

I moan to myself because I have to wake up. Almost like before I had to wake up for school and I didn't want to. But then I was only in 6th grade. I would kill to have to wake up for school again. See all my friends, see all my teachers. We would all love to learn math, literature, language arts, science. Trust me. Like I said, I would кιℓℓ to go back. Just take it all back.

I slowly untangle Sky off of me and sit up. I look around, and I notice Carl isn't there. Glenn's snoring like a pig.

I jump up and walk into the kitchen. I'm wearing dark blue jeggings and a brown shirt with a flower (vest type thing) over it. (Just like Lizzie.)

My hair isn't up though.

"Carl...?" I say.

A few moments later I still hear nothing.

"Carl?" I wait a few seconds. "CARL?!?" I yell. I don't really mind if I wake up Glenn. I need to find Carl.

I run up and down and left and right until Ive been in every part of the whole dang house. Nothing.

I go back where Sky & Glenn are, and they're both awake.

"I'm going to look for Carl." I say.

Glenn looks at me like I have four eyes.

"No your not," he says.

"Glenn I -"

"You can't go by yourself and I'm not bringing Skylynn."

Sky looked at him.

"I know how to kill," she said.

"See, she knows what she's doing. We'll all go," I said to Glenn.

Glenn moaned.

"Fine. Skylynn, you listen to me and you listen to Anna. Don't ever try and be tough and run away by yourself okay?" He said.

"I know! I'm not four." She said.

She's five.

We started out the door.

Skylynn was right between me and Glenn.

About a half an hour passes.

We still can't find him.

Maybe he went looking for food to surprise us with. Like me and him did.

"I hope he didn't try to find Rick or Judith and get himself killed," Glenn said.

I didn't realize I was walking really fast and I sorta left them far back.

I turn around and walk to them.

"Sorry I guess I ....."

"It's ok Anna." Glenn says.

"We saw a sign that said there was a sanctuary not too far from here," I said.

"It said if we get there we would live," I added.

"Do you think he headed that way?" Glenn asked.

"No. I don't think he would leave us."

"Your right. It doesn't sound like him." Glenn said.

"GUYS! WALKER!" Sky yelled.

Her face filled with fright.

"Don't run," I reassured her.

"I'm not gonna!" She said.

Glenn stabbed it with his knife.

"Ew."

"Things aren't pretty in an apocalypse," She said.
