Chapter 25; No Where

Chapter 25: No Where

I picked up the yo-yo from the floor and put it back where it was before.

Then I walked out of my room and downstairs, looking everywhere for Skylynn. Until I finally found her, she was sleeping on the couch.

I grab my cover and place it over her gently.

Glenn walks in the room.

"Shhhh!" I whisper. "She's sleeping."

He signals an "ok" and sits down on the floor next to the window and pulls out a book.

"Got to keep reading as much as you can," he said. "Otherwise you might forget."

That's why I read. I do it because I'm too scared to forget.

My head flashes to the back door as I hear a bang. It wasn't too loud, it just was loud enough for me to hear it all the way from the living room.

Glenn looks up in alert and begins to stand up.

"It might be a walker," he said.

"And what if it isn't?" I say.

He sighed.

"Grab Sky."

I picked her up gently off of the couch and even though she was still asleep her arms and legs wrapped around me.

Glenn walked slowly towards the back door and me and Sky followed him.

Glenn opens the door, ready to strike.

Then, all of a sudden, Carl ducks.

"GLENN!" I yell.

I'm pretty sure I woke up Sky. Oh well.

"Good to see you too Glenn!" said Carl almost out of breath.

I set sky on the floor. She's awake but doesn't want to be.

(I know what your thinking, she's seven and Annas carrying her .. But she's supposed to look five because she's so tiny but she's really seven.;)

I walk up to Carl and put my finger on his face.

"What happened to you?" I said.

His face had bruises and slashes all over it.

"Can I just come in the house?" He asked. I guess I didn't realize he was still outside the door and we were inside.

What Carl didn't realize was that there was a walker behind him. I hurry and grab his hand and pull him inside.

"CARL!" I scream.

Glenn slams the door shut.

"Look behind you next time, smarty pants," I say annoyingly.

He rolled his eyes and smiled.

Skylynn jumped looked up at Carl.

"Well, your finally home!"

I continue to talk for Sky.

"Yea, where were you?" I asked.

Carl breathed out heavily.

"No where."

"No where?" I said.

Carl walked past me & Glenn & Sky.

He goes upstairs and I hear a door shut.

No where?

What was he hiding?

Because it won't be a secret for long.

"I'm gonna..............go check on him," I say and run up the stairs.

I look and see that the doors are all open except for the bathroom.

I knock on it.

He wouldn't answer.

"Carl!"

"Carl...."

"CARL"

"Caaaaaaaaaaaarl."

"Caaaaaarl!!!!!!!!!"

Then finally, he opens the door.

Carl- what?!?

Me- Where did you go this morning?

Carl- Just leave me alone please.

Me- I'm not leaving you alone until you tell me where you went. We're never supposed to leave eachother! You know that-

He cut me off.

Carl- I know I know Anna but what if I said I went after the governor!

Right after he said what he said, he walked out of the bathroom and sat on the stairs with his knees touching his chest.

Me- Carl ......

Carl- I had to okay. He was planning on killing my little sister. He knows that's my dad's weak spot.

Me- did you ever think that he wanted to kill you too? Your your dad's everything, Carl...

Carl- But I couldn't let him do it and get away with it. No. Not that easily.

Me- Did you.........................ya know..kill him ?

Carl sighed.

Then he looked up at me and smirked.

Carl- Well,"

Carl did it. He killed the governor. He actually did it.

Me- Well I'm proud of you

Carl- Thanks mom!

Me- *laughs*

Okay now we need to get you cleaned up.

We walk into the bathroom and I wipe his face off.

Me- So the governor did this?

Carl- All of it.

Me- Im so sorry I wasn't there.

Carl- It would've been worse if you were.

Me- and Why .....?

Carl- You think I'm letting him hurt you too? Far enough hurting my family and practically killing two from our group, I wasn't gonna let him take you next.

We walked out of the bathroom and downstairs.

"How's it goin'? " said Glenn.

"It's uhh.............fine," I say.

We all sit down on the floor and the lamp is turned on dimly.

Me- Where's Sky, Glenn?

Glenn- She's-

Sky came running down the stairs with a box in her arms.

Sky- Look what I found guys!

She set it on the floor.

Sky- Let's play!

I read what it said on the box and read it out loud:

"Monopoly"

We got into a circle and got out the game cards.

Me- Okay now Sky. Do you know how to play?

Sky- I got it I got it!

Me- Ok Ok!

We continued playing Monopoly the rest of the night. Glenn laughed and Sky laughed and we all laughed. I was just happy we were all together. Well, almost all. But we are gonna head to the sanctuary tomorrow morning.

I'm sure of it.
