Chapter 26: Ahead

As soon as I woke up, i looked over and saw sky next to me. She sleeps with me in my bed since it's so huge. I got up and went over to my bag that had some clothes in it and changed. (What she's wearing will be my title picture page thingy until tomorrow when I update. It's gonna look exactly how Anna is supposed to look. I'll change it as soon as I'm done updating.;)

I went downstairs and saw Carl eating cereal. Of course no milk was in the bowl, though. That sorta stunk.

"Hey," I say to him.

"Hey look your up!" He said with excitement.

"We should get going." He added.

I had my bag in my hands.

"We should. Let's go."

Carl started to speak.

"Well, shouldn't we all eat first? I mean we'll be gone for a long time, probably won't come back."

"That's...... a good idea. I'll get Sky."

I walk back into my room and wake up Sky.

"Skyyyyyy......." I whispered.

She pushed my hands away.

"Ehhhhhh" she moaned.

I took the blankets off her and sat her up.

"Were leaving."

"What?" She said suddenly so awake.

"Were going to the sanctuary," I said.

"And were not coming back."

She wiped her eyes and jumped off the bed. She went over to the door and walked out. I followed her.

She went downstairs and opened my bag. She grabbed pants from it and a shirt and went to the bathroom. I zipped up my bag.

Carl- Is sky gonna eat?

Me- She's changing I guess.

Carl- Oh I see.

Sky walked out of the bathroom, put her pjs in my bag, and walked up to me.

Sky- Im hungry!

I grab Carls bowl and put more cereal in it and give it to Skylynn.

Me- Here. Eat fast, we don't have much time.

Sky hurried up and practically shoved the cereal pieces down her throat.

Sky- Finished!

She jumped off the seat.

Me- Well, I guess it's time to leave our home,"

Sky- I don't wanna say goodbye!

Me- Sometimes you don't have a choice,"

I told her sadly and pulled her next to me.

Glenn walked into the kitchen and by the back door.

"Ready guys?"

We nodded.

Glenn opened the door.

Sky- WAIT! I HAVE TO UH- GO GET SOMETHING- BE RIGHT BACK

We all exchanged looks.

A minute later, Sky came running back down the stairs.

Me- What'd you find?

Sky- Oh, just a yo-yo,"

She said with excitement and winked.

I smiled and followed Glenn and Carl out the door.

It felt like hours and hours until we finally got closer to the sanctuary. The signs on the trees said things like, "your getting closer to safety!" Or "Just a little longer."

The signs made me feel like the 'sanctuary' might not be all that. I feel like its a set up. Something has to happen. It's can be our happy ending yet. Not this soon. It never ends like this.

We were on foot, so we started to worry that it would get dark and we wouldn't be able to stay anywhere. We started walking faster, and I was practically dragging Sky across the ground.

"Come on Skylynn stop dragging your feet!"

"I'm tired!"

"I don't care!"

She moaned and kept walking.

We all stopped when we saw a sign.

Without even noticing anything else, I read it out loud.

"You made it. are you excited? You should be."

I looked at Carl and Glenn.

Sky was holding on to Carl's arm.

We all looked ahead of us.

"Carl,?" A voice said. "Is it really you?"
