CHAPTER ONE
I open my eyes to see a pitch black room before me. Feeling a thick material under my feet, I look down to the ground where I stand only to find nothing. More darkness... and I feel as if I was floating in thin air. What is this? Where am I? The questions roaming inside my head I knew would never be answered, at least not by the little knowledge I had been provided with, which was-- by the way-- nothing. No clues, no information, no nothing whatsoever.
I look around the room hoping to make something out, at least a shadow--which was a stupid thought since the room itself was dark-- or maybe an item of some kind. Of course, after what seemed like a decade of searching, I found nothing. I had to admit-- I wasn't surprised. The people who set this whole... event up would not be idiotic enough to give away part of their plan after having accomplished so much-- if there was anyone behind this and if there were any accomplishments at all anyway. Just when I was about to start actually thinking about this whole situation, light burst from the ceiling and I found myself staring at a bunch of other kids about my age standing on what looked like tubes of some kind, they were all wearing some kind of suits that ironically enough reminded me of the Hunger Games.
Woah.
I remembered something. The hunger games... was that something I learned before I came here? Some sort of...? A book. It was a book. I remembered. I smiled at myself knowing at least something from my past had popped into my head out of the blue, then focused back on the kids standing all around me in their... tubes.
Because all these kids that looked my age were standing on tubes just like I was and were looking as surprised as I was looking, I assumed that I was wearing the same suit they were wearing, and found myself being right once my eyes met the material that tightly hung on to my arms. Before anything else happened, realization hit me. All these people, all these kids I was looking at were some of my best friends and classmates, as well as some other kids I didn't really know. I was simply shocked. Most of them I had no idea existed before this moment, and I wasn't sure if I should be glad or terrified at the fact.
Another woah.
This was insane. I was fairly surprised that I'd been freaking out about the people here during the past five minutes instead of actually asking myself impossible questions, like I would've expected myself to, honestly. Before I had any time to ask myself stupid nonsense childish things, a loud sound erupted from speakers located on two walls, followed by a very familiar yet non familiar voice. "Welcome, dear children! How exciting this is, to start a new year of our annual Roomscapes. I am glad to announce that we will be starting very soon, just after we go over a couple of basic rules and procedures! The document with the rules you will need to know and your weapons/materials needed will be provided in just a touch of a second!" Just as she finished her last words, a projected document appeared right in front of my face, on my tube. It contained rules and procedures, which was surprisingly just the word, "survive." Just a millisecond after the document was sent and read by me, a small drawer somehow appeared right below the projection of the document, containing just a tube with some kind of item inside and a really, like really sharp knife. I was tremendously startled and fairly terrified. I looked around the room, hoping to notice other peoeple's reactions. Before I had any time to scan my neighbor's pale expression, the document switched to a plain white screen, followed by pictures of complete strangers and their names right under them. There were only three of them, and I couldn't have been more confused in my entire life. And then a thought occurred to me, at least so far...
