** ANGEL'S POV **
"Great." I mumbled, rolling my eyes, "Of course we had to come into the arena...." I pressed my hands against my face and cursed under my breath. I tried to remember everything I had learned and everything I was supposed to do, but unluckily enough, nothing came. So I did the only thing I could do. I walked. I walked until I found someone familiar lying on the ground, her blonde hair messy but somehow still presentable. She was facing down, her face pressed against the damp, green grass. And now I knew who it was. Valentina.
**VAL'S POV **
"Getty up!" I heard someone say, someone way too familiar. "Wha?" my voice was raspy and my eyes were most likely bloodshot, at least that's how they felt. My face I had no doubt was covered in blood and dirt, and my hair had more leaves in it than any of the trees. I was a mess. I looked up and my eyes were locked in someone else's. Sure enough it was Angel, looking down at me with a playful grin on his face, and I could tell he was trying not to laugh, "That bad?" I asked, pressing my hands to my face, and blinking a few times. He laughed, "Here... I'm not that kind of person that actually cares about others but I know where you can wash your face and try to fix those bruises... wow.... I'm not leaving you anymore... knowing what happens if I do..." he laughed again, and instructed me to follow him as I rolled my eyes, "Well, let's see... I cried, killed, fell, ran into a door and nearly drowned, not to mention I was hanging out with the person who was supposed to kill me, and oh! I was in an acid rain as well as in a blood one, and the blood was up to my knees and I witnessed my best friend die and..." no matter how playful I had intended that to be, I ended up sobbing, remembering Adriana's smile and her disgusted face when we told her there were no showers or bows around here. I miss her. Angel's expression had changed, too, and I could sense the pain in his chest. "I'm sorry," I said through tears, trying desperately to stop, "No... it's okay... come here, this way," he grabbed my arm, knowing I would trip over something, and that was basically the whole walk. Me crying while he held my arm, until we got to our destination, a river. "How did you know there was a river here?" I asked, my expression puzzled. I didn't wait for him to answer, I honestly didn't even know why I had asked that, since I didn't care. I walked to the edge and sat down, taking my boots off and putting my feet in the cold water, and I couldn't help but feel the bruises I hadn't known I had start to burn. I finally realized I hadn't washed my face and I did, flinching at every sting. There were a lot. I also tried to get the leaves out of my hair, but failed miserably. I decided after a while I would just wet my hair to feel less hot, since it was like being burnt to death out here. I was fairly surprised when I noticed the leaves getting out of my hair by themselves one by one as my hair softly hit the water. Wow. I was pretty sure thirty minutes had gone by and I never turned around to check on Angel-- not that he needed to be checked on... but I still wanted to see what he was up to. I put my hair up in a messy bun and put my boots back on, whining at the odd, unpleasant feeling of my wet feet's contact with the rough material. Ignoring the discomfort and pain, I got up and started walking, and for a second, with Angel nowhere to be seen, I felt completely hopeless. Weak and hopeless.
** CAMERON'S POV **
I knew we should've ran when the death announcer went off, but Eli insisted in staying and finding out who the killer was, and this is where that smart ass idea got us. This was lovely, we were sitting against a wall, Daniel nearly dead, listening to Christopher and Jordyn discuss our death. Lovely, just lovely. My mind was racing and I was still in a dark room with nothing else left to do but wait. Wait to see what the future brings. "Angel!" I heard a scream from another room and flinched. Val. I felt the sudden urge to get up and run to her, but it took everything in me to look at my enemies first. If I went, they would follow me, catch me, kill me, and find Val and kill her, too. I had to stay alive and I needed to think before acting in order to do that. I took a deep breath. I felt a pang of jealousy wash over me and I mentally scolded myself for being an idiot in the worst of times. I listened carefully, and almost died at the words that were spoken before my eyes and I nearly tackled the person who said them.
** CAITLYNN'S POV **
"Did you hear that?" Nicole sounded alarmed, and even though it was almost night and the sun was setting in the woods she still had her most anxious look on her face, "It was Val. I know it. I know it. We have to find her. Now" I had never met Valentina before, but I sure had heard about her. She was supposedly nice... but who knew? I just nodded my head and hoped for the best as I led her to where I thought the noise had come from.
** ANGEL'S POV **
I have no idea how they didn't catch Val, but I was somehow glad they didn't. By they, I meant Kevin and Salma. They had punched me way too hard, and my face was bloody and my eyes bloodshot. I don't know why they hadn't killed me yet, but no doubt crossed my mind at the thought that they would soon. I sighed and pressed my hands to my face, covering them in blood. It stung, badly. "Angel!" I heard a panicked voice, and suddenly knew where it came from, and my eyes fled to my enemies, but their eyes were already on me, Salma's expression worried, but Kevin's evil and full of satisfaction. I was doomed. The last thing I expected happened, and I was too surprised to breathe when Salma threw a disc at Kevin's foot, and mouthed, "Run."
** VAL'S POV **
Run. It was the only thing in my mind now--except for Cameron, whose presence never faded in my head-- and I kept running. Away from the fire, run, run, trees were falling, grass was burning, and I was going down with everything. "Angel!" I had yelled minutes before, hoping to see him come out of nowhere, his eyes wide and his expression serious, like always. Sure enough, it didn't happen, and I was by myself now, running away from the fire that was slowly yet quickly consuming everything around me. A branch hit my leg, and I literally screamed to the top of my lungs, it was the worst feeling in the world, the heavy branch wouldn't move and the fact that it was on fire didn't really help the situation. "Cameron! Please! Come!" I felt like yelling everything I felt right now, I mean, I was going to die anyway? Right? I caught sight of someone else, breathing heavily and the image was blurry through the smoke, but I could tell that whoever it was, they were having trouble breathing, and their pace rate was decreasing. And that's when I saw her, and the flashback started...bringing back memories that would hunt me down yet make me stronger...
