"Matthew..." my voice came out as a rare whisper, "what's wrong?!"

"Caitlynn..." he took a deep breath and held up the key, "we've been fooled..."

I couldn't breathe.

"This isn't the key to the door, Caitlynn."

**CAITLYNN'S POV**

"You're joking..." I rushed over to the door, the panic I had been holding back suddenly catching up to me, taking over my reflections and thinking way sooner than I had hoped. Everyone was frozen, not one movement was taking place in the room in which we were put in except for the movement of the walls that closed up on us every passing second, gaining control of the space we lost as they moved in on us, rushing our death, rushing our panics, rushing our decisions.

"What did you try? Tell me what you tried..."

"We tried putting in a password on the pad, but it didn't work..." he looked down, "apparently you only get one try... after we failed...well it took us to the screen we showed you and..." I didn't need him to finish. My mind was racing. I had to think before these walls squished what was left of my functioning brain.

I got it.

Before anyone could take another breath, my feet were moving towards the door handle, and gripping it tightly I did the only thing I could think of, the only thing that made sense to do at a time like this.

I pulled.

**JORDYN'S POV**

"We can't." I said, looking up at the door that made us seem like filthy ants with its glorious height and beauty. White smoke came towards us from its perfectly carved snowflakes, and my throat started to tighten from the cold breeze, "we have to go back for them... for Valentina..." I looked over at Shane, but he was too concentrated on the gate to pay any attention to my pleading words.

"You're right.." okay, okay... maybe he was paying some attention. "Thank you! Let's go."

I turned around, trying to locate the door-frame we came in through. No sight of it. Shane didn't move. "Hey, Shane... where was the exit?" He didn't answer... "Shane where is the damn exit!? You can Google magnificent ice gates when we get back home... but first we have to survive, and we can't survive if you stay here looking at the freaking--"

Eyes. And a face. And a body. And it was moving towards us. Slowly moving its flawless legs, taking the time to breathe with each step, giving us the time to admire its beauty, and desire it. All I knew was that the creature-- no matter how much it seemed to be-- was not human. It couldn't be. The perfection its every move held was too overpowering for any human to obtain or naturally hold. Its beauty was too great to belong to any mortal creature that has ever roamed our Earth with flaw-some features and uneven steps for survival. And all this-- it was walking our way. But it wasn't... it wasn't walking our way. And that's when I realized what had been locked away in my brain and ignored since the appearance of the paralyzing object.

It was walking his way. Not our way, his way. Its eyes were so demanding, sucking all the secrets out of you, obtaining information from your brain without even asking. What creature that man kind has ever known to exist could possibly hold that sort of inhuman power? Shit. I think I know what this is...
