He looked so tired and miserable, I almost felt like hugging him. At the mention of the name, he loosened the grip on my neck and mouth, making it easier to breathe.

"You know Parker?" his eyes softened for a second before returning to their original state, and he stared at me intensively, waiting for an answer, his knife now lowered.

"What do you mean?" I asked, squinting at him, "You are Parker."

Just as the words left my mouth, I noticed some differences no bruise or cut could cause on his features. His nose was a little smaller, and his eyebrows thicker, and his lips fuller. This wasn't Parker. A gasp escaped my mouth, and he noticed it, because he only stood there, waiting for the question we all knew very well I would ask. And I did.

"Who are you?"

** VAL'S POV **

"Who are you?" the words left my mouth just as fear crept in, slowly consuming me with the help of the pure suspense all around us. This man wasn't Parker, the differences were too many and too great for him to be. I had all my faith in the fact it wasn't him, and considering the situation I would not be embarrassed if somehow he was Parker, whereas in any other normal day I probably would be and a fierce red on my cheeks would prove so. But it is not any day, and it is not a normal situation, and my pride is the least of my worries when my life is at stake in the game. I wanted answers, and with nothing to lose besides my life which I was now clinging onto, I was going to get them. One way or another. So, that said and being the reason for my following action, I repeated the question, this time not allowing my voice to shake in the slightest.

"Who are you?" The second set of identical words emerging from my lips seemed to have processed better than the first in his brain, since this time, his eyes shifted to mine, and at least a mumbled answer escaped his lips. Needless to say as for thus the answer was described as mumbled, I did not understand a word he had said. So doing what any average human would do, I questioned the phrase he had just said.

"What!?" I asked, annoyance and curiosity clear in my hurried tone. He met my eyes once again, and something snapped in him, because he answered fully this time, words clear as crystal but the meaning behind them confusing as could get.

"He didn't tell you?" In his eyes shimmered sadness, hurt, anger, confusion, and pity. And I wondered where all the previous anger had disappeared into.

"I have no idea what you're--" I stopped myself, trying to make this conversation as simple and straight forward as possible.

"No, he did not tell me. Could you please answer my question, now that I have answered yours?" I asked as politely as I could, the sentence formed from pure politeness I was proud of conserving throughout the series of events that had changed me more than anything else ever will.

"I'm--" he seemed to hesitate, but quickly recovered and clenching his jaw, answered fully this time.

"I'm Jacob...his twin brother...remember!?" As the words of explanation I had longed to hear were put out for me to take in, I realized and understood more than I thought I would, and suddenly it all became obvious before my eyes. The way they both looked alike, the way Parker was trying so hard to save the other Jacob at the fear landscape, the way his eyes shined with sadness at the sight of him dying because of his actions. The way his mouth parted and tears filled his eyes as he shot him, the other Jacob probably reminded him of his brother.
