"So that's what happened!?" my eyes were about to pop out of my head because of the story I had just heard.
"Yea..." Shane said, offering me a weak smile.
"You were always on our side? And now I poisoned someone I really care about and I kissed you for nothing-- oh my god... I am SO sorry...." I tried to squirm out of his grip but he held me there.
"It's okay," he chuckled, "I didn't mind the kiss much anyways..."
I mean I would've totally answered--but you can't do that when you have lips on yours.
** VALENTINA'S POV **
"Ok... this doesn't make any sense... Less happens to be everywhere all the time... and no matter what we do she never dies..." I tried to concentrate, but the only thing that had my undivided attention at the moment happened to be the un-tamable pain in my throat. I closed my eyes and sighed, laying my head on the wall behind me. All this thinking would have to wait.
"What happened to my throat?" I whispered, feeling too dizzy to ask anything else.
"Parker cut it... before he died." Nicole looked down and Jacob swallowed a lump in his throat, yet stopping at nothing to defend Parker.
"He was under that gas's influence...or the liquid... or whatever the hell it was." The anger was slowly taking over, and it had no intention of hiding itself during the process.
"Jacob..." I whispered, touching his arm. He looked up at me with a sympathetic smile, and I could see the anger and fury slowly fading. But I wasn't about to sugarcoat the situation, "it's not okay..." his eyes met mine and we were the same only for a second, except for the fact his eyes were much wider and his expression much more surprised. "What?" Nicole seemed concentrated on our conversation, too perplexed by my reaction to do anything else than to listen and watch. So I kept going.
"It's not fair that you had to lose your brother at this age, and much less here." I said the last word as if it was a putrid egg in my mouth. He clenched his jaw. Nicole gave me a warning glare, but I just couldn't stop. This wasn't fair. "And I don't know if I have any siblings outside this place, but if--when I get out of here I will be able to find them and hug them so hard..." I started letting go of held back tears, "But you..." Nicole's eyes were watering, but she didn't let the sadness stop her from directing yet another warning glare at me, and I continued talking, my eyes never leaving hers. "You, Jacob, will never be able to go back to your brother... because..." I let go of a sob and looked in his direction only to find a red face and watery eyes with hands made into fists by his sides.
"Because he's dead." And then it hit me, what was I doing!? "AND THAT IS NOT FAIR!" I screamed and felt something being ripped open in my throat. Then everything blacked out and the last thing I saw was someone embracing me, and the feeling of my uncontrollably shaking body was the last sensation I had before nothing--nothing at all-- replaced it.
** JORDYN'S POV**
When you turn about sixteen or fifteen all you want is a car, and the most terrifying thing in the world is getting lost in school on the very first day. Well that's not the case with me. You see, all I want is to know the way around this shit maze. And the most terrifying thing in the world is getting lost in this shit maze forever until death arrives... and I'm facing that fear right now, and let's just say this occasion does not account for the many fears that you have to face in order to overcome. This is the type of fear that if you dare face, it will either destroy you or make you fear it even more than you every had. Or worst of all, suck the life out of you every second you spend in it. It's true. I'm a witness.
