 ** VAL'S POV  **

The side effects of the bug bites slowly kicked in as I opened my eyes to feel cold hazel ones burning into mine. My instincts told me to run, but my body told me otherwise. I was sore, my legs sent a wave of desperate pain through my body with every inch they were moved, and I held back a wicked scream that was willing to escape its cage.

And then it kicked in. The memories of who knows how long ago were slowly placed back in my head like the fragilest glass piece, the details threatening to destroy me. I closed my eyes as I made myself believe it was a dream, one I was anxious to wake up from. I swallowed and rested my head back on the ground once realizing I had lightly tilted it up, desperate to affirm the fact that the place was deserted. Any thoughts of peace and emptiness were gone when the memory of hazel eyes burning into my flesh was recovered and placed neatly but swiftly in the back of my mind. I could barely remember the details of the moment, but I did remember they were frightening yet at the moment I did not care, since the feeling of tiredness and exhaustion was taking over my whole body. I gave up and sighed, slowly but surely closing my eyes. I licked my lips, biting the bottom one lightly as the memories of the brunette and Cameron came flashing back, striking me like lighting-- hard and fast. I knew if I had been standing I would've been knocked down by the memory, the scenario threatening to kill me a million times. The way her lips were locked with his just sent chills down my spine.

"Yes." She said, " His name is Cameron... or so I heard from him..."

Could it be the brunette I had seen leaning down to touch his face before?

"Let me talk to him alone..."

The words echoed in my dizzy head, spinning endlessly, torturing me.

"Let me talk to him alone..."

"Let me talk to him alone..."

I felt as if I was run over by a car, only worse. I felt numb, but pain also filled my whole body. It was a painful numbness; yet the only thing I prayed would be numb was my heart, the one that ached with every memory, every fragment of anything that happened in the past month or so. I held back tears as I waited for the pain to be over, something I was pretty sure wouldn't happen. After who knows how long my eyes became heavy, and I once again fell asleep, the exhaustion inside of me never wearing off...

 ** KARIMAH'S POV **

"Hey! I think I found something!" Parker yelled from ahead, motioning for me to catch up.

"Coming," I said, rolling my eyes at his enthusiasm.

"Look," he pointed as I slowed down, my heavy breathing bothering me. I followed his finger's direction and found a small bag on the floor, only inches away from us.

"What are you waiting for?" I simply asked, stating the obvious, "Pick it up!" and just as I was about to reach out for it, he forcefully grabbed my hand, pushing it back with a great amount of force. I pressed my lips into a straight line and clenched my jaw, looking at him with an annoyed face.

"What the hell Parker!?" I felt my cheeks heat up as I grabbed the bag anyway, his eyes wide as I pulled it back against me, my satisfaction calming me.

"What the bloody--"

"No one cares," I harshly remarked before turning on my heel, stalking off the opposite direction.

"Where are you going?" he asked, catching up to me. I honestly wondered if something was wrong with him... I knew I shouldn't have gone with him in the first place when he asked me to be his ally. I knew he was some sort of messed up freak.
