Chapter 7

Jade's Life

I opened up the door to our house and let Jackie in first. "Mommy?" "Yes sweetie?" "Do you have work?" Oh yeah that, I was hoping that she wouldn't notice that I was home. "No I don't, I'm just..taking a long break from work."

And by 'long break', I actually mean that I'm fired. I got fired over the stupidest thing ever.

*flashback*

Ugh, why does my boss walk so fast? I hate it when she does that. I can't even keep up with her because I have little legs. "Keep up, will ya!" She shouted at me, not even turning around. "Sorry miss, I'm coming." I said.

"Wait, hold up." She said stopping dead in her track. "What's wrong miss?" "I need coffee. Coffee right now Jade! Go!" She said shooing me away. I put the stuff I was carrying for her, on an empty shelf hoping that people wouldn't take it and throw it in the garbage.

I ran as fast as I could to the coffee maker and made her 'special'. Her vanilla coffee with black beans and caramel topping. But this time..there was no caramel in the machine. "Dammit dammit dammit!!" I whisper yelled at the machine slamming it quietly.

So instead, I got some chocolate toppings. I mean, who wouldn't like some chocolate right? Right?? I ran right after I made it, back to her office which was across the building made I add. I made sure I didn't trip over anything like the last time.

She left me off with a warning which scared the crap out of me. I really like this job, even though my boss is a bitch, but everyone around is pretty spectacular. Then I ran into someone. "Oh shit, I'm so sorry!!" I can't believe I got the coffee over him! "Oh don't worry love, you're fine. I have an extra shirt in my bag in case something like this happens."

"Really? Does this happen often?" I laughed a bit. "You'd be surprised." He said. "Well, sorry about that..again. I'm Jade." I said putting my hand out, waiting for him to shake it. "Hi I'm--" "Jade! Hurry up! Where's my coffee?" My boss said, stomping out of her office towards me.

"Shit well, nice to meet you. I have to go make my boss another cup of coffee." As I proceeded to walk, my boss grabbed me by the arm and tugged me back. "This is the last straw, you've forgotten my coffee 2 times in a row! You're fired!"

*flashback ends*

And that's the story of how I got fired..over the tiniest thing ever? Isn't that stupid? Then I felt a little tug on my leg. "Mommy? I'm sad.." "Why are you sad?" "Because I miss Perrie.." Did I hear that right? "You miss who?" "Daddy. I miss daddy..did I say something else?" "No sweetie..no you didn't."

"I miss her so much." "What?" I said to her. "Mommy, I said I miss him so much." "Oh okay, sorry sweetie. I keep hearing something else." "Like what mommy?" I shook my head and I sat quietly on the couch.

So I decided to text Perrie.

I questioned myself right after that. Why did I do that? I don't miss her. Okay fine, maybe I do. Maybe just a little.

Okay yes, I do still love her. Over the past 4 years, it's been a struggle just trying to get over her. But before I got fired, that's when I met Luke. I still remember the day where I spilled coffee all over him. He didn't say anything harsh. He just laughed it off.

That's what I love about him. He made me feel special, that's why I decided to marry him.

Should I tell her? Should I tell her that I still miss her? I should right? I mean, I can't hold it in all together..I still love and miss her.

No, that's too forward. Right? I should tell her that but at the same time, I don't want to make things too awkward. Let me just start out slowly..
