The wedding would happen in April, just a fe weeks after Alexander's proposal. Many people questioned why they were rushing into it so soon, ut they argued that time was precious these days, so they were not going to waste any of it.
The ceremony took place right outside the Schuyler Mansion. Despite the young couple's protests, Philip and Catherine insisted that they use their ballroom for the reception, the same room where they had met.
Eliza fluffed the skirt of her white dress and adjusted her veil. She was incredibily nervous, but so excited she may cry any moment.
"You look like a picture," Angelica gushed, squeezing her sister's shoulders happily. The two were in the bride's tent, just a few yards away from where the large canopy was set up for the ceremony. The sisters looked in the mirror. Eliza wore a long white gown embriodered with lace and tiny white roses. A circlet of jewels rested on her head and her long, dark hair was loose and long, just the way Alexander liked it. Angelica would be her maid of honor and wore a pale, green dress.
Peggy pulled back the flap of the tent. She was the bridesmaid and also wore green. "Are you ready?" she asked, eyes shining with joy.
"Yes, just a few minutes. I'll see you out there," Eliza said. Her sisters quickly left the tent to go into place.
"I'm sure you look beautiful," an all-too familiar voice said.
She whirled around and glared at the sillouette from the other side of the tent flap. "Alexander! You're not supposed to see me yet!"
"Hence, the reason I'm on the other side of the tent." She couldn't see his face, but he sounded like he was laughing. Eliza reached though the tent flap and tried to find his hand. She found it and held tight. "Are you ready?" she asked.
"Are you?" he answered. "I know we rushed this. Everyone said so. If you want to wait I can-."
"No!" she exclaimed frantically. "I'm ready. More than ever." She pushed his hand away playfully. "Now go get ready!"
"What, and have my groomsmen cry over me?" He laughed at his own joke, but left.
Alexander strode past Angelica, Peggy, and Mr. Schuyler, who all in turn frantically asked him why he wasn't at the altar. Hurriedly, he ran to the groom's tent, where Laurens and Lafayette were standing outside, speaking through the tent flap.
"Come on, Mulligan," Lafayette coaxed. "The wedding is about to start!"
"No."
"No one will care how you look!" Laurens said, crossing his fingers behind his back.
"I'll care."
Alexander reached the tent, waving his other friends away, who scurried off. "We made a deal and I want you to stick to it."
Mulligan groaned. "It wasn't an offical deal! We didn't even shake hands on it!"
"Well, its too late to back down now. I'm supposed to be in my place and I'm trying to get you to come out of a stupid tent!" He stepped closer and whisphered. "I'm about to get married to the most amazing woman I have ever met and I'm terrified."
There was a long silence. "I'm terrified," Hamilton repeated quickly. "And I want all my friends to be there. Please, Hercules?"
Mulligan stepped out of the tent. He wore a suit like the other groomsmen but had a wreath of pale pink flowers on his head and another around his waist. He held a basket of white and pink rose petals. "Fine, I'll do it for you. But I'm burning this basket when we're done."
It couldn't have been a better wedding. Alexander have never been to one before, but it couldn't have been more perfect. The ceremony was decorated plae green and pink, with floating roses above the heads of the guests, jewels that lined the aisle, and riddons that adorned the trees.
Standing on the altar with Laurens as his best man, Lafayette and Benedict as his groomsmen, Alexander never felt happier to have such great friends. He was able to look at all the guests that had arrived to see them wed. Much of the large Schuyler family was present, along with many members of the Order including the Potters, the Longbottoms, Mad-Eye Moody, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, and Minerva MocGonagall. Even Albus Dumbledore was able to come. Washington was there along with his wife and many Aurors.
Alexander felt his heart sink as he didn't see Aaron. He had personally gave him the invitation, but never got a response. As the organ began to play, the guest began to laugh. He looked up and suppressed a snort, forgetting all about Burr. Mulligan the flower girl was coming down the aisle tossing flower petals everywhere with a murderous expression on his face. Not gently or anything. Each toss violently threw petals into the faces of the guests who were unfortunate enough to sit close to the aisle.
Hamilton glanced at his Laurens and Lafayette, who were shaking with silent fits of hysteria. Only Benny kept his composure. He winced as Mulligan threw a bunch over the heads of Dumbledore and McGonagall. The woman looked as if she wished she could still give him detention, while Dumbeldore looked delighted. When Mulligan reached the front, he dramatically threw a buch of petals in the air and stomped off to the side. Alexander gave him the thumbs up and...suddenly couldn't breathe. After Peggy passed by, he saw Eliza, with Angelica holding her train above the dewey grass.
It was as if looking at an angel. Her hair and veil flowed behind her as she came ever closer. Though the veil hid most of her face, he could see her smiling shyly at everyone she passed. When she stood next to him, he pulled her veil up and he saw her blue eyes were wet with tears. It was a beautiful ceremony. He couldn't rememebr most of it, due to the fact he kept staring at Eliza. He jumped when the old wizard said, "Alexander, do you take Elizabeth to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do."
"Elizabeth, do you take Alexander to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do."
Out of the corner of his eye, Alexander could hear several noses being blown. Mrs. Schuyler was beside herself and Laurens and Lafayette were passing a hanky back and forth.
"Then I pronouce you wizard and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Everyone cheered as the two shared a passionate kiss. Some of the more wild guest sent sparks into the air. Laurens, Lafayette, Benedict, Peggy, and Angelica swarmed around the happy couple, laughing, cheering, and crying.
Mulligan set his basket ablaze with his wand.
