Chapter 19 A Sign From the Stars

It was hard to hide my anticipation as we climbed up the steep slope toward the moontree, a tree the was found many generations ago that has a moon carved into it, Tielstreak said that you have dreams from Starclan when you sleep under its branches every half moon, though I was excited a small voice still loomed in my head what if Starclan doesn't want me to be a medicine cat, what if they think I'm not good enough!
I was to busy worrying to realize that it was steeper here and with a startled yelp I slid down a few fox lengths "are you okay?" Someone asked I thought it was Tielstreak but when I turned around I saw a brown tortoise shell she cat, I moved away form her a bit, stumbling from confusion "who's this?" An old molten colored she cat called to the other cat as she appeared out of a bush, "relax Yarrowberry, this must be Tielstriek's new apprentice" the she cat called,
Yarrowberry snorted "she's a young cat, much younger than me, she doesn't need an apprentice."

The other she cat just shook her head an then focused on me again "don't mind Yarrowberry young one, she lost her marbles moons, I'm Fernflower" Fernflower introduced herself, I bowed my head "I'm Glowpaw, Tielstreak's apprentice" Fernflower nodded "I'm the medicine cat of Vallyclan and old crazy over there is the medicine cat of Ghostclan." As she said that Tielstreak bounded over to us "sorry Glowpaw, I thought you were still behind me, I see you've met Yarrowberry and Fernflower" I nodded "then now that we're all here let's head to the moontree." Fernflower said, after a bit of claiming we came across a cave "is that where the moontree is?" I asked, Tielstreak nodded "this way" she said navigating me through the tunnels when we reached the end there was a big clearing where moon flowers were blooming and in the middle was a giant tree, most likely the moontree. Moonlight washed over the clearing giving it an eery glow "is this it?" I asked Tielstreak who was cut off by Yarrowberry "no, there's another giant tree somewhere in this cave" she growled "like a kit would even want to be your apprentice" Fernflower said half teasingly, Yarrowberry only glared at her "let's get this over with" she grunted "what is wrong with you today?" Tielstreak questioned as we walked over to the Moontree.

"Glowpaw?" My head shot up and I quickly staggered up at the sound of the voice, I was by a stream, that was peacefully flowing, occasionally splashing my paws from the waves and ripples. When I looked around I saw a light brown she cat with pale yellow eyes that seemed to glisten in the moonlight "where am I?" I wondered out loud the she cat just chuckled, "your in Starclan young one." She mewed with amusement. "O-oh" I quickly said remembering everything, when I realized that she must of been a Starclan cat
I quickly withdrew a few fox lengths and gave my chest a couple embarrassed licks.
"S-sorry I just I I-" I stammered but she cut me off "your worried Starclan won't welcome you as Oceanclan's new medicine cat? Oh, don't worry little one, I am Mistleaf, Oceanclan's medicine cat before you mentor." She quickly explained, I relaxed a little, at that point I realized that the current of the stream that was next to us was starting to fade.
Something told me that I didn't have long until I wake up.

"Now" Mistleaft continued snapping me out of my thoughts, "sadly, I have an Omen for you, one that is not pleasant" she mewed her tone becoming more serious as she cleared her throat.

"Darkness shall rise again as blood spills and grows in your clan, only when the cold strike hits will it truly be over."

I starred at her in shock darkness shall rise! What does she mean? I was about to confront her about the mysterious omen but she started to fade away, "you will be a great medicine cat Glowpaw, Starclan welcomes you." Was the last thing she said before fading away along with everything else.

I quickly awoke form the dream, and staggered to my paws, what did Mistleaf mean by that! Soon the other medicine cats arouse from there dreams. "Well that was useless!" Yarrowberry spat, "dreaming about prey isn't going to help me starving clan!" I rolled my eyes realizing that Yarrowberry was just a grumpy old cat, nothing to be afraid of. "Maybe it's a sign" Fernflower said gently "maybe it means prey will return to your side of the forest soon." Yarrowberry only grumbled something, "my dream wasn't worth mentioning" Tielstreak said shrugging and stretching her paws "Mine either." Fernflower replied she then mumbled something I was barely able to hear "is Starclan saying I should stop trying to help Rockstar?" If the others herd it they must've brushed it off.
"What about you Glowpaw?" My mentor asked my "I, um" I stuttered should I tell her I front of them? "N-no" I lied thankfully only Fernflower looked at me curiously but she didn't say anything. "It's time I go" Yarrowberry announced breaking the somewhat awkward silence "us to" Tielstreak commented "I'll see you all at the gathering yes?" Fernflower asked us we all nodded and Fernflower looked pleased "until then" she said more quietly.
Something's on her mind but what?
