Phoenixheart starred up at the night sky, looking at the stars as if this was the last time she'll ever see them. She knew what she had to do; but that didn't make it any easier.

It had been two moons since the attack, Maplewish had finally recovered from the shock of killing another cat, and the rest of the Clan had slowly accepted the fact that Salmonclaw betrayed them. Even the reeds had been replaced, everyone had recovered, everyone except Phoenixheart.

After what felt like a moon of silence a familiar voice made Phoenixheart jump; "are you gonna stand here all night?" Phoenixheart turned around to see her sister padding towards her, she sighed as Maplewish sat down next to her. "Maplewish.." Phoenixheart knew she had to tell her sister at least, she couldn't handle the thought of Maplewish thinking the worst had happened to her. She turned to look her sister in the eyes, before saying solemnly: "I'm leaving OceanClan."

Maplewish's golden eyes grew wide at those words as she stared at her littermate in disbelief. "What- why?! You.. You don't still love Salmonclaw do you?" Phoenixheart hesitated for a heartbeat before shaking her head, "that's not it.. I'm leaving because I'm pregnant."

Relief flashed in Maplewish's gaze for a moment before it turned into happiness, forgetting about what Phoenixheart had said prior. "Oh Phoenixheart, that's wonderful! You always said that you wanted to have kits, and dont worry about them not having a father. They'll have the entire Clan to give them that love, and I'll stop in the nursery a lot and-"

"Don't you understand?!" Phoenixheart hissed, standing up. "They're father is Salmonclaw, the Clan would except a fox as one of their own before these kits!" Maplewish was about to protest before hesitating, there was nothing she could say to soothe her sister this time, because she was right.

A few heartbeats of silence followed before Phoenixheart took a deep breath, and looked toward the entrance of the Camp. "I have to leave Maple, for their sakes.." Maplewish looked down at the sandy floor, how could she meet her sister, her best friend even's gaze when she knew that she'd be gone soon. Maplewish had always been able to count on her, it had always been the two of them. Before Maplewish could figure out what to say, another voice came from behind her.

"Well, if you're leaving then the least I can do is give you traveling herbs."

Maplewish was surprised to see Glowheart appear from the shadows, his grey pelt seemed almost invisible in the dark as he stared at Phoenixheart solemnly. "You.. You won't tell Heatherstar, will you?" Phoenixheart asked as she backed away slightly, she didn't plan on anyone else knowing about this.

Glowheart shook his head, "it's your decision. And even though its my duty to be loyal to my leader I must also be loyal to my clanmates." Phoenixheart sighed in relief, and in a flash Glowheart disappeared back into the shadows for a few heartbeats before returning with a bundle of herbs in his jaws.

He dropped the herbs beside Phoenixheart and smiled. "I wish you well, Phoenixheart. Remember you always have friends in OceanClan, and we'll welcome you back if you ever change your mind." Phoenixheart nodded, and thanked Glowheart quietly before leaning down to eat the bitter leaves.

Phoenixheart lifted her head once she finished eating the herbs and looked back to her sister. "I'll see you again somehow. I promise." Maplewish just looked back at Phoenixheart and smiled sadly. "Don't make promises you can't keep." She said simply before nuzzling her littermate. Phoenixheart opened her mouth to reply, but there wasn't anything else to be said.

Phoenixheart turned around and padded towards the entrance, the moment she steps out of camp she may as well be considered a rogue. This was the end of her being a loyal member of OceanClan, the end of her being a warrior.

She turned around once she got to the entrance to look at her old home one more time, she caught Maplewish's gaze who was now sitting beside Glowheart. Phoenixheart smiled, despite the nagging sorrow that weighed her down. She said one more thing just loud enough for the two to hear before turning and leaping through the reeds.
