(Studio Day)

(Aly's POV)

Today you could say was one of the first days we would be going out together as a family ever since we adopted Gracie.

We adopted Gracie knowing that it would be good and bad at the same time. I knew we were both ready. I know our parents didn't think we were because it's always kids after marriage but we were adults and knew what we wanted.

I had just finished getting ready and since Shawn was going to be in the studio for most of the day, I put on a baggy t-shirt, yoga pants, my converse and just thru my hair up in a messy bun. Once I was done I went into Gracie's room to wake her up.

"Gracie, wake up,"

"Where we going?" She asked.

"Daddy's got to work today," She nodded and reached out, I put her on my hip and walked to the bathroom. I put her hair into a high ponytail and she wanted to stay in her pj's so I let her.
(A/N: That would be me as a parents tbh)

I had been wanting a cinnamon roll for the last few days and yesterday I finally went to go get some. I heated one up while I made Shawn and I some coffee.

Once our breakfast was ready, I poured out some cereal for Gracie since that's what she wanted. I grabbed a few snacks in case she got hungry at the studio then we were off.

"Don't answer anything," Shawn said as we walked thru the crowd of paps that were around the house.

"Daddy, who were they?" Gracie asked once we started driving away. "They were people that like taking pictures of daddy, but are mean at time." Shawn said looking at Gracie thru the rare view mirror.

She just nodded and looking out the window. "Are you recording for the new album?" I asked. He nodded, "I'm excited but it's going to be a lot of studio time these next few days.

"We'll make it work,"

(At the Studio)

"Mr. & Mrs. Mendes, right this way." The receptionist said. "No please, it's Aly for now," I said. "Sorry about that," She replied. "That won't be for long tho," Shawn said and started running to the studio with Gracie in his arms.

"Shawn!" I yelled and started running after them. This was going to be a long day and I could feel it.

"Gracie, come over here and sit with mommy while daddy goes and sings." I said and she sat in my lap while Shawn went into the recording booth.

"Mommy, when do I have to go to the doctor again?" Gracie asked and I knew she was talking about her chemo sessions. It sucked that a sweet girl like her had to go thru this at such a young age.

"3 days,"

"We will be with you tho, you won't be alone. I think Ms. Melissa will be there too!" I said and she started cheering.

"Did you have any friends at the hospital?" I asked Gracie.

She shook her head, "they were all mean or the friends I did have left."

I got sad after she said that because I knew exactly what she meant by left. Again, a six year old should have to go thru this.

I didn't know what we were going to do if she ever had to "leave" but I knew we were going to do what we could so that won't happen and spend as most time with our princess.

She started laughing and I looked up and Shawn kept messy around to make her laugh. I started laughing too.

After the studio we headed back to the house because Gracie had fallen asleep toward the end of the recording session.

"What were you guys talking about?" Shawn asked.

"She asked when her next chemo was, and when I asked her about her friends at the hospital she said that they had all passed away. And that the other kids were always mean so she didn't really have any." I said.

"Awe, my baby." Shawn said looking back at her. "I know," I said and looked back at her as well.
