Nikki's POV
Life isn't perfect. I knew this, who doesn't know this. But it was as if life was testing me these past few months.
I have been running for such a long time, to the point where running was just natural to me, but no then i had to go and find my mate. Someone who practically claimed they don't want me.
I don't understand why?
We haven't spoken, we haven't even been in the same room alone. So why has he rejected me. He doesn't know anything about me.
He cant reject me off of looks, can he? I know I'm not the most attractive girl in the bunch but I'm not the ugliest am i?
A sigh escaped my lips, causing Scarlett to look at me.
"What's wrong" she asked, patting my back. I looked up into the forest.
It was so beautiful here, so quiet and peaceful.
"Nothing. Just thinking about how i came to be here" i answered, slightly lying to her.
"I'm glad you're here. Makes me have hope that there's still more of us out there" she explained looking out into the distance. Her eyes getting lost in the forest.
"Scarlett, can i ask you something" i questioned looking down at my hands.
"Yes sure anything" she answered.
"What type of cat are you" I whispered biting my lip.
She tilted her head before smiling, "Eurasian Lynx."
I looked up at her with wide eyes, "Eurasian Lynx, those are si rare do you realize that?"
She shrugged then smiled at me, "Well I didn't even know there was more of us out there."
I nodded my head understandingly, "Yeah I forgot."
"I don't really like shifting," she muttered looking at the sky, "It makes me feel out of place. Especially in a place like this, full of wolves."
"But that's what makes you unique, in a pack of wolves your the cat, leading the wolves" i explained smiling to myself. "My mother used to tell me that, whenever i felt out of place back at home."
Scarlett looked at me before patting my back, "You're mothers seems like she was a smart woman."
I nodded agreeing with her, "She was."
Before we could even continue our conversation, my body exploded with pain. I hunched forward, falling to the ground.
"What's wrong" Scarlett yelled jumping down to me.
"I-i don't know. It-it feels a-as if some-someone is pu-pulling at my body" i mumbled in pain.
Before she could respond a little voice came crying, i looked up only to see the youngest crying.
"Lui what's wrong" Scarlett asked, picking me up to my feet.
"Something's wrong with Tyler" he cried.
