Chapter 24

Maria was preparing the dinner when Alice walks into the kitchen with the dirty laundry in her hand.

"What time did he say he's coming back?" said Alice.

"About 6." said Maria while she stirs the beef stew. Alice walks to the laundry room and place the dirty laundry in the back when the doorbell rings.

"Don't tell me he's back!" said Maria. Alice walks out from the laundry room and walk to the door.

"I'm not surprise if he's back early, you must be the reason why he's early." Tease Alice while she open the door and saw Alex was at the door.

"Mr MacLaine I know it's going to be you at the door." Said Alice while Alex walk in and she close the door. Alex look at Alice and says,

"Would you please leave early today?" Alice immediately nods her head without question. She took her thing in the cabinet and went out of the apartment.

Maria was chopping some celery when she felt strange that she did not hear Alice voice. She stop what she was doing and went out of the kitchen.

"Alice who was it?" said Maria when she got out of the kitchen, she was shock to see Alex was standing at living room staring at her. Maria smile and says,

"You're back early! Where's Alice, didn't she answer the door?" as she walk closer to Alex. From the way Alex look at her, Maria felt something was wrong.

"Did something happen?" said Maria but Alex did not say anything he just look at her with his eyes which was full with question of who is the woman in front of him right now. The woman who makes his heart beat so fast whenever she around him, he just wish none of what he had seen earlier was true.

"Why don't you just sit down while I'll you some tea." said Maria while she turn around and walk to the kitchen.

"I check with the maid agency and did another check about your background as a maid. And I found it strange about the places you work at." said Alex, immediately Maria stop walking.

"All the previous employer are the owner or shareholder of a big and well known company." Said Alex. Maria turn around and says,

"So... is that a problem now to have my own preference of employer?"

"No...not about your preference but all the company were link to 1 multi-billionaire company Alive.Co!" said Alex looking at her angry.

"What are you talking about?" said Maria.

"A few months ago my team and I got a tender from Jasper Titanium and Alive.Co tender for the same contract but we won and got it. After that I have you as our maid. That was the reason why are you here? Was it because I need a maid or because Clinton hired you?" said Alex. Maria look at him for a while and look down and laugh.

"Alice did told me that Elizabeth stop by yesterday and now I know why she came." Said Maria while she look up at Alex. Alex saw that Maria expression change immediately he know that she's not who he thought she is.

"Is she outside waiting for you right now?" said Maria while she walk to the door and open it. Outside was Elizabeth who was trying to hear their conversation.

"Come in join us!" said Maria while she walk back to Alex. Elizabeth walks in and stands beside Alex.

"Why? Why did you do it! WHY" shouted Alex, his heart was breaking into pieces he felt much worse when Elizabeth left him.
