Elijah's POV

I was waiting in the hospital for what seemed like forever. Doctors came in and out of the room and I was sure that one of them was gonna be the one that was gonna tell us anything about Ivory's condition. Everybody seemed to be here waiting on that same thing. Carter, Blake, Jamison, Nat, Anti, and even Blake and Jamison's parents. I sat next to Carter who looked worried, but as if he saw this coming. He bounces his leg up and down. I touched his shoulder trying to get him to calm down a little bit.

"I knew something was wrong." He said barely above a whispered, but I wasn't sure what that meant. "When were getting ready for school this morning she was slower than usual. She said she didn't get any sleep the night before so I offered to carry her to school. She accepted my offer too quickly for her so I knew something was wrong." I was about to say something when the doctor came in front of us.

"Ivory McLoughlin." We heard as everyone instinctively got up causing the doctor to looked confused.

"We're her parents." Nat stated and the doctor nodded pulling them off to talk privately. However; they were at a good enough distance that I could still read their lips.

"Ivory is stable at the moment, but she seemed to have a small tumor on her left side just above her kidney." The doctor explained and Nat looked mortified. Her eyes started to water and I could tell that she felt guilty for some reason. "It will take a little while for us to be able to perform surgery on her at her weakened state, but when she regains some of her strength we will do the operation. She's had a lot of trouble staying conscious and breathing at the moment. We hooked her up to a couple breathing and respiratory machines to help stabilize her for now. Had he consumed any alcohol at all?" He asked as I remembered the party we went to last month.

"Her and her friend went to a party last month." Anti explained and the doctor nodded.

"Alcohol messes with your kidneys and when she consumed it. She disrupted the tumor that was growing inside her. But don't worry, when she regains her stamina back we'll work on her provided her condition right now doesn't get any worse." They nodded and the doctor went about his day.

"How is she?" Carter said standing up and they walked back to us.

"She'll be fine in a few weeks. They're running test and work on her later." Anti said calming everyone down. Nat on the other hand looked really... broken.

"Hey, Eli." I heard as Carter motioned for me to follow him. He took me on a walk around the hospital. "Do you think my sister will be okay? I know what my dad said, but anything can happen." I looked at him and he looked at the ground with a dead expression

"Yes. I know she'll be okay. She's a fighter remember." He looked up at me and gave me a small smile.

"You're not half bad, kid. And your voice sounds pretty good too." I rolled my eyes at his comment. After a while everyone went back home but me and her parents.

"It's okay, babydoll. She'll be fine. Im gonna get you something to drink, alright?" Anti said patting Nat's leg and heading out. There was a long silence before she was the one to break it.

"Eli?" She spoke softly. I looked at her giving her my attention. She had tears running down her face and sighed. "My daughter has always talked about you at home. I'm glad she has someone like you to make her happy." I felt really bad for her. Yes, I care about Ivy so much and I am really hurt that his happened to her, but she's her daughter. She looks like she's taking this the worst.
