I guess it's about time I told you a little bit about myself, seeing as you are now looking in on the life of Isabelle Thompson. Well quite frankly my life was simple, living in a small town in Worthing, South England. I've decided I hate small towns, and I'm not on about the overly expensive houses with beautiful gardens and the serenity of not having to lock your door every night. It's the people. Everyone knows every aspect of your life whether you want them to or not. And that's not just because your Grandmother decides to tell everyone on how well you're doing. It's the people who don't have enough entertainment in their own lives so they resort to living their lives through rumours and other people's downfalls. I guess their way of livening up such a peaceful town.
At first I didn't mind, with Mum being the lead Doctor in the only surgery we have here I was pretty much known by everyone, and liked might I add. Though it doesn't seem like that now. I was known by everyone, I couldn't take a stroll to my favourite bakery, Lina's, without being stopped multiple times turning a five-minute getaway to being half an hour. That's minimum, but at the time I didn't mind. There was nothing wrong with the questions because I knew these people, I had lived with them my whole life, they were family. That however was when I was eight and they were in love with the blonde doll-like girl who had a smile plastered on her face without a care in the world.
I guess as you age the protection from the real world that adults shield you from gradually diminishes. Which obviously was the time the rumours increased, til even you don't know what the truth was anymore.
After Dad left initially under the pretenses for a big new business deal, Mum got more and more involved in work which is how she met Will. Of course, Will was also a Doctor, because where else would she meet anyone, she spends more time in the surgery than at home and I knew her social life was nearly non-existent. When she came home gushing on the phone about this new guy that was so perfect to her friends I knew it was trouble. Not by the words she was saying but the bright smile that had crawled along her face, and that was something I hadn't seen in a while.
It wasn't long til he had replaced Dad and moved in to our home, and that smile became more of a permanent thing for Mum. That was the first time I met Alec. He towered above me with a kind of stare that was not threatening but intimidating. It was a warning and a warning that I wouldn't take lightly. We grew up as a family, Mum and Will decided to work together so we could spend more time at home. Alec and I had become acquaintances, no we weren't friends by any means but we were civil. Sometimes we even got along really well. Life seemed good.
Being sixteen now I had grown up, the doll like girl had changed into a slightly taller teen, but damn I was still short! 5ft4 and there were still so many shelves I couldn't reach. I kept the blonde, not fancying the effort of dying it, even though I'd always wanted to be a brunette.
We've all dreamed of our Sweet Sixteen birthday, and how this is the day that your life changes. And that was truly right. The whole town had got together for my birthday, Mum had hired the whole town hall out which was big and it still managed to be packed with everyone that I knew. The hall was beautiful with white table cloths with pink roses and lilies, while large dropping canopies covered in fairy lights made the ceiling look like it was covered in stars. It was perfect, everything that I had ever imagined. I felt like I was in my own fairy tale. That was when I was introduced to James, James Stevenson. Yet I didn't know that this one meeting would determine the rest of the two years of my life.
