As soon as James left I turned around to see Shawn stood behind me.
"At least I know why now." He smiled sadly.
"Why, what?" I asked slightly confused.
"Why you wouldn't really kiss me back."
.............................................................................................
"I don't understand what you're implying." I asked Shawn.
"I think you do...He's a lucky guy." He added.
Shawn walked up towards me, throwing his arms around my shoulders. I automatically placed my arms around his waist. "Don't let him go." He whispered into my ear before letting go of our embrace and turning back towards the party that was in full swing.
I was going to tell Mum that I was going back to the hotel, but not wanting to have to answer five million questions and her trying to persuade me to stay I decided just to walk off like James had done.
I looked at the room key in my hand and then glanced to James' room next to mine. I tried to weigh up my options in my head, spending the entire night re-living what had just happened or risking getting into even more of an argument with James. Stuffing my card back into my bag I started knocking on room 108's door.
"Alec, I told you to bring your own key for gods-sake!" James exclaimed in frustration.
Seeing that Alec wasn't behind the door he quickly went to shut the door, unfortunately for him, not before I managed to wedge my foot in the doorway.
"We need to talk." I muttered, pushing the door slightly wider so that I could squeeze through the small entrance that James refused to open completely.
"What's left to talk about?" He snapped.
"Nothing happened with me and Shawn! We are just friends!" I defended myself, knowing full well that we could potentially avoid this whole conversation and start another argument if I didn't.
"So now you're lying to me Princess?" He huffed, shaking his head slightly in disappointment.
"I don't understand?" I moved forward slightly.
"I saw you kiss with my own eyes, so don't tell me nothing was going on between you two!"
Shocked was an understatement. He had seen that? Unsure of why I suddenly felt so embarrassed and unsettled standing in front of him.
"Only once." I tried to justify my actions to him, for reasons I'm not too sure of yet.
Looking up at James who was refusing to look at me, I walked over to his bed and perched myself on the end.
"I thought I liked him until that happened, then I realised I didn't see him as anything more as friend." I answered honestly, looking down at my hands which I couldn't help but nervously fiddle with.
I felt the weight of the bed slightly sink and my hands being prised away from each other.
"So, you don't like him?" James repeated, whilst encasing my one hand with his much warmer and larger one.
I shook my head as a response.
"Good." He murmured.
"What about Kate?" I asked, knowing that I would regret not bringing her up.
"What about her?" He asked dubiously.
"Weren't you two a thing?" I looked up into James' eyes, wanting to gaze his reaction.
"Definitely not!" He laughed at the thought, "All she would talk about is how many calories were in things, I'd rather eat my pizza in peace!"
I laughed at that, imaging James reaction, which I'm sure would have been comical.
I let go of his hand, which he glanced down towards, before wrapping my arms around his waist, giving him a sideward hug. James encircled his arm around my shoulder bringing me closer. Our unspoken apology was enough clarification to know that we were okay.
After what seemed like ages I let go of James, knowing that soon Alec would return from the party.
"I better go." I explained, grabbing my bag that had fallen on the floor.
"Night Princess." James replied.
