Welcome to the beginning of my story, I hope you're ready for a bumpy ride. A story of the rollercoaster life of a small town girl entrapped in the drama that comes along with it. This town isn't great but it had people I could call family. Not the blood related type, but the type to ask about college or how my parents were doing. They even bought me Christmas presents, like those real family members you saw maybe twice a year and pretended like they knew you so well. But still they were there and though they didn't know me that well, it gave me comfort. Something I wasn't sure truly existed anymore. But it was a slight brightness in my devoid life.

My life was pretty  uncomplicated until overnight it was thrown completely upside down by a not so welcoming change to my life. Now I know what you're thinking, what could be so bad in this young naive teenager's life that could cause all this. Well let me tell you. Firstly, I'm not naive and secondly the blame lies 65% on James Stevenson, and the rest well you'll find that out later, now won't you?

So, I bet you're all wondering about this James and who is he. Ex-boyfriend? Oh, it's got to be, I mean why else would someone wish to make every breathing minute of your life a living hell. See I guess I would, to some extent, understand it if that was actually the case. Trust me it isn't. Sometimes I do wonder what I did to make someone feel such anger towards me that they want to take everything good in my life away.

Rest assure you that's exactly what he did. It started when my Dad was replaced by Will, and unfortunately not Will Smith. Will Becket if you wanted to know. I guess you could say he was the catalyst of my downfall. Except I couldn't blame him. Sure, he tore me and Mum away from Dad, but you see Dad was never home anyway. Mum was lonely, even an eight-year-old girl could see that, so when she met Will her life changed. It was another seven months before Dad was even home for her to break the news to him. So, could I really blame her? She was practically a single Mum anyway, and I'm under no delusions that my Dad would have stayed faithful during his long months away. Obviously, I didn't know that then, but I guess with age our faith in humanity slowly dies. After that day, I haven't seen my Dad since, I heard he's landed another big pay cheque job in Dubai. The only contact I have with him is the monthly payroll and the lump sum he transfers in my bank account for 'good riddance'.

Life changed, I had a new step-brother who was three years older than me called Alec. He wasn't too bad, I tolerated him since we had a mutual unspoken agreement for years now. We both stay out of each other's business and take care of ourselves. Maybe if I had known that a change in that agreement may have saved me some trouble I would have rethought it.

Now I bet you're all wondering where the dreaded James comes into it. He didn't turn up til I was sixteen, two years ago on my birthday. Little did I know that was the day that would set my downfall for the next two years of my life.
