Mum walked in to find James attempting to explain for about the tenth time how to solve an equation, that I still in all honesty have no clue how he managed to solve.
I must admit I was quite shocked to find out how smart he was, and no matter how many times I asked for him to re-explain something he did not once get angry.
"Having fun guys?" Mum asked us both.
"I don't know anyone who would call Physics fun." I sarcastically replied.
James didn't say anything, but smiled up at Mum in response.
"Has Alec spoken to either of you yet?" Mum asked.
"I haven't looked at my phone today" I retorted, "Why? What's wrong?" I quickly queried.
"Oh, nothing sweetie, I was hoping he didn't tell you, so I could do it" She giggled to herself.
"Will and I have booked us a family holiday to Mexico for all of us, two weeks after your exams Isabella!" Mum all but squealed in excitement.
"I was thinking you could even ask Susan! Alec and James will be sharing a room, so I thought she could come and keep you company."
Mum was so ecstatic, and I couldn't blame her. I don't remember the last time we actually went on a family holiday, obviously if you exclude the ones that were cancelled because either Mum or Will had to work.
"Thanks Mum, but I think maybe it should be just a family holiday. I can see Susan any other day." I replied, not wanting to break it to Mum that the last conversation I had with Susan ended in utter heartbreak, and that we hadn't spoken since.
"See that's the family spirit I was hoping for! I'm proud of you sweetie! Ooo I can't wait to pack!" Mum ran upstairs in excitement.
I couldn't help but laugh at how childish she was sometimes, but secretly the thought of going away was the only thing that would help the stress of exams ease.
"Guess we better get you ready for these exams then. Let's just hope that you're better at your other subjects." James joked, raising his right eyebrow up slightly.
"I'm not even that bad at Physics!" I rolled my eyes, turning once again to face the page of unknown letters and numbers.
"Could have fooled me." James muttered under his breath.
We spent another two hours working relentlessly, and by that, I mean James tirelessly attempting to teach me, and me attempting to understand what the hell was going on. However, by the end of the night I had somehow managed to finish the whole book that I thought was going to take me the week to complete.
I released a sigh of relief, grateful that I didn't have to look at anymore work tonight.
"Thanks James, honestly you saved me from a hell of a lot more breakdowns." I laughed at the thought of having attempting that book alone.
Standing up from my seat, I stretched my arms above my head, clicking my back that was aching from sitting down all day.
"Anytime Princess." James continued to tidy up the mess aka my work that had been spread across the table.
I walked around the table to where he was standing, placing my arms around his waist, leaning my head against his back.
James was a bit taken aback as he quickly turned around, resulting in me falling back slightly. He was quick to recover, grabbing my hands and slightly pulling me back to face his chest instead. I placed my hands back around his waist, resting my one cheek against his chest.
"What's this for Princess?"
"Just seeing if you'd push me off." I joked, not wanting to admit that I for some reason just wanted to have his arms around me.
He rested his head on top of mine and wrapped his arms around my shoulders, "Have I ever done that to you?"
I slightly shrugged.
"Exactly."
Wanting to quickly change the conversation I blurted out, "I was just wondering, do you prefer to be called James or J? Seb called you J, so I wasn't sure." I attempted to justify the random question.
"James. Just James." He answered immediately.
I closed my eyes and squeezed him lightly, enjoying the comforting feeling.
