I heard a grumbling and someone complaining about being here as I was leaving the back entrance, after saying goodbye to a friend that had to leave early. I was confused, not once has anyone not wanted to be at my parties, and if they didn't they didn't turn up, it's simple.

It was a tall, broad guy stood next to Alec pulling a face that looked more like a grimace, it was pretty obvious he didn't want to be here. Now I'm not going to say he wasn't attractive because point blank I'd be lying. He lent on the wall combing through his dark brown hair and spontaneously clenching his jaw making his chiseled face even more prominent. Alec seemed to notice my staring and met it with a glare muttering something under his breath causing the guy to look up to meet my eyes. He scowled and turned away as if I didn't even exist. I walked past them as people started to call me to open my presents, easily distracting me from that moment.

It was coming towards the end of a perfect night, my friends had all left to go home and only a few adults who were still drinking and chatting remained. I gazed up at the fairy lights thinking of how special this night had been with a wide grin spread across my face.

I heard Mum shout my name and I was surprised to see my brother's scowling friend still here and standing next to Mum and Will.  "Hey thanks for tonight you guys it was so perfect." Will looked down at me smiling whilst Mum spoke "I'm glad you enjoyed it Sweetie. I have someone here you need to meet. This is James, he's going to be living with us for a little while as his parents have gone travelling, so we are now his legal guardians til they come back. He'll be moving in next week".

Shocked was an understatement, I stood there speechless. I struggled adjusting to living with two other people when Will and Alec moved in and now there is going to be five of us?

Realizing I should probably say something after being quiet for what is probably longer than socially acceptable I looked up to James and said, "Hey nice to meet you, I'm Isabelle." I got a head nod in response. Great chat there I thought to myself.

Shortly after Mum and Will left, I went to walk away when James voice spat, "So you're the little princess then, I would say it's nice to meet you but I'd be lying."  The way he looked me up and down as he towered above me made my skin crawl, the venom in his voice making clear of his feeling towards me.

I glared at him, trying to size him up and failed miserably, "What is your problem?" He gave a slight smirk, showing a slight glance of his perfect teeth as he whispered, "You, but you'll be gone soon enough." Swiftly turning his back on me, leaving me alone in the empty hall.
