My safe haven

The walk to Tyler's was a lot longer than expected, seeing as I drove last time. Being the idiot that I am I hadn't realised that it was raining until I was outside, not wanting to ruin my dramatic exit I decided to face the weather. After twenty minutes, soaked to the bone and probably looking like a drowned rat, I found myself outside Tyler's house.

It seemed like an eternity after I knocked on his door until he opened it. The surprise of me being outside his door was evident on his face as he let me in. I chose to leave my phone at home so that Mum couldn't call and ask where I was, and with James thinking I had no friends I knew that no one would be able to find me. The only flaw in that plan was that I had forgotten to let Tyler know I was staying the night.

After having a shower to try to reduce the high chances of getting pneumonia I had changed into one of Tyler's hoodies. I proceeded to fill him in on today's dramas whilst drinking hot chocolate by the fire. "Tyler, I was just wondering would I be able to stay here tonight? I just really don't feel being home right now." I looked down at the hot chocolate as if it was the most interesting thing in the world, afraid to meet his gaze. He chuckled softly "I've already made up your room after the first time you came over, of course you can."

I gasped, "Really?" Tyler looked down at me with a small smile gracing his face, "Of course, I've put your bag in there for you ready for you to unpack. You may as well leave some of your stuff here anyway." Relief washed over me, I jumped up throwing my arms around his shoulders pulling him into a hug. "Thank you so much Tyler, you're the best."

Tyler wasn't lying, he took me into a spare room that looked like a recreation of my old room, he had always known about my obsession with fairy lights so I wasn't surprised to see beautiful lights around the edge of the bed. Obviously, there wasn't as many lights here as Mum's house, but it warmed my heart that Tyler had gone out of his way to do this for me. After thanking Tyler more than a dozen times I finally surrendered to the pillow.
