Chapter 7: Tension, Red Pencil Sweets and Slut-Shaming. ✔

"Walk me to school?" Mary asked as she stood outside Archie's door in a white top and ripped mom jeans with her trusty Doc Martins of course. Archie nodded, he was filled with happiness as he just got Mary as his girlfriend, but what about Ms. Grundy? Ms. Grundy and Archie had been seeing one another even though she was a teacher. 

"You are beautiful you know that Mary." Archie stated as he slipped his hand into her and they were locked together. Mary just blushed.

"Thank you Archie." Mary said, she was nervous for today. What were her friends going to think? What was Betty going to think? How would Reggie react? A puzzled look sprouted on her face.

"Hey, whats wrong?" Archie asked looking over at Mary as they walked to school. Mary tried to cover up her face with a smile but failed- badly. Archie raised an eyebrow and Mary groaned.

"I am scared." Mary stated, Archie looked very confused. "What if Betty reacts bad? and what if I see Reggie?" Mary continued finishing the last bit slowly and quietly. Archie laughed and Mary looked confused. "Whats funny?" She asked pulling her bag closer up her shoulder.

"Who cares what people think? They will just have to live with the fact that you are my girlfriend and not theres." Archie replied smiling as they walked into school. Archie kissed her and walked the other direction. Mary then realised that was what Reggie said to her and all she could think about was Reggie. 

"Uh, where are you going?" Mary shouted over at him, he smiled back at the confused girl. 

"Weatherbee." He stated before running off. Mary rolled her eyes and walked into the school. Mary walked up to her locker and opened it, there was a note inside. 

Mary, 

Can we talk? I miss you.

Mary ripped up the note and threw it on the ground and started to stamp on it. People were looking at her if she was insane. Reggie came up behind her.

"I take that as a no." He stated blankly. Mary rolled her eyes. 

"If you weren't such an ass to my friend then yeah I would of spoke to you- heck I thought we were going to be a couple but you ruined it!" Mary shouted in his face angrily before walking off. 

"A couple? You told me we were just a fling." Reggie shouted back while doing air quotations. Mary rolled her eyes and shook her head in anger.

"You were, but now I have a boyfriend. So you can move on with you pathetic life Reggie Mantle and stay the hell away from me." Mary shouted with tears cascading down her face she ran into the girls bathroom and locked herself in a stall. Mary felt so bad being a bitch to Reggie because she had to make up her mind.

Mary was sat on top of Archie's knee, in the student room with everyone else, cuddling into him. 

"So are you guys a thing now?" Kevin asked curiously. Archie just laughed. It all happened so fast so Mary knew there was going to sly and subtle comments. 

"She finally said yes." Archie said looking into Mary's eyes. Archie was blind to the fact that she had took off all her makeup and let her brown hair down. Betty smiled over at them.

"I am glad you two are together, despite everything." Betty said smiling and Veronica just nodded in agreement. Archie looked over at Mary smugly.

"See I told you everyone would be fine with it." He whispered into her ear as he kissed her cheek. Mary rolled her eyes and slapped his chest. 

"So, are you a suspect now?" Mary asked curiously, turning around to face Archie.

"My dad says we all are, including me." Kevin butted in smiling.

"Not me, girl. I don't know these people." Veronica said while Mary said, "Why am I a suspect, I know I watch criminal minds but doesn't make me a psychopath?" Mary groaned as everyone laughed at her. 

"Guys, should we maybe re-binge Making a Murderer on Netflix tonight?" Kevin asked as Mary shook her head.

"Got to watch as much criminal minds as I can before Mama Cooper catches me." Mary said feeding Archie a red pencil sweet.

"Sorry. Can't. Gotta stay late to work on the paper." Betty said pulling out a sweet and eating it.

"Count me out, too. I've got a date tonight." Veronica said smiling at everyone."You do?" Archie asked curious.

"Which Riverdale hottie made the cut?" Kevin asked, Veronica tilted her head over so it was pointed at Chuck, who was with Reggie. Mary's eye locked with Reggie's who looked sad. Archie looked at Reggie and then at Mary and gave her a passionate kiss on the lips. Mary quickly pulled back and looked blankly at Reggie who had turned away. He looked hurt and scorned and it was all Mary's fault. 

 "Hey, Vee-Lo. I'll swing by the Pembrooke to pick you up at 8:00?" Chuck asked as he was putting on his jacket. Mary was a little shocked because of her history with Chuck. 

"I'll be waiting." Veronica replied smiling. Mary laughed at Chuck.

"Vee-Lo creative." Mary muttered. Chuck rolled her eyes.

"How many players are there in the football team? I mean not that long left to go until you have had a fling with all of them." Chuck retorted as his posse laughed.

"Chuck, you slut-shamed me once and if you dare do it again. I will slowly kill you." Mary warned glaring at him. 

"Better not say that M or you will regret it." Chuck retorted as he left with his gang. Mary hated how he got the better of her. 

"Try me!" Mary shouted back in anger. Archie looked over at her confused.

"Slut-shaming?" He questioned and Mary just shook it off.

"It was nothing." She whispered in his ear before biting on it so he would move on he let out a moan and turned as red as his hair.

"You're going on a date with Chuck? He's kind of a player." Betty stated.

"Who cares? He's the hottest of hot, and he's the varsity football coach's son." Kevin said getting excited.

"Don't worry, you are the hottest." Mary whispered into Archie's ear before kissing it. 

"In Riverdale, that's like dating a Kennedy." Kevin finished as they all laughed at his comparison. Mary got off of Archie's lap.

"S'Long fellow students. I am off to write songs." She stated saluting them and smiling.

"Without Archie?" Kevin asked confused. Mary rolled her eyes.

"Archie has been my muse for every song and I write them about him by myself and if he is there I think it will change. He gets it so it is all good." Mary said before walking out.
