Chapter 4

I woke cuddled up against Mason. I got dressed without waking up Mason. I put on shorts, neon green tank top, and my varsity jacket. I walked downstairs and walked out of the house. I ran next door to Shawn's house. He was sitting on his steps with Chris.

"Hey," I said.

"Hey," They said.

"Have y'all heard from Carter?" I asked.

"Nope," Shawn said.

"He's gonna hate me forever," I said

"I wouldn't say all that," Chris said.

"You know what I'll be back," I said. I ran to Carter's house and knocked on the door. Carter opened the door and just looked at me.

"Carter I'm really sorry about what happened yesterday," I said.

"Its whatever," He said.

"No its not. I can tell its something to you Carter but you have to understand I'm with Mason," I said.

"You know I'm not the only one hurt about it," He said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"They got a thing for you to. We all do but you are with Mason so we can't do anything about it," He said.

"Carter you will always be my friend," I said.

"One day I'm hoping I'll be something more than that," He said. I hugged him and he hugged me back. We stayed like that for awhile but then we finally pulled away.

"Do you wanna come inside and hang out?" He asked me.

"I actually have to get back before Mason wakes up," I said.

"Oh well maybe next time," He said. I kissed his cheek and walked back home. I quietly walked inside and up the steps. I walked in my room and jumped on Mason.

"Well hello to you to," He said.

"Let's go get something to eat," I said.

"Ok let me change," He said. I kissed him and then I thought about how we would get there. I guess we can call a taxi. I pulled out my phone and did that. Mason came down the stairs and kissed me.

"Where did you go early?" He asked.

"I had to make things right," I said.

"Did you?" He asked.

"Yea," I said. The cab pulled up and we got in there. I told the driver just to drive to town. He dropped us off and we looked for something good to eat. We finally found a Wendy's and walked inside. Mason ordered for me and him and I sat down. He got me a vanilla frosty and got him a coke. When we finished eating we decided to walk around town. We walked to the movies and decided we were gonna see a movie.

The movie ended and we were walking around town when I saw Shawn, Chris, and Carter walking around. I pulled Mason towards them and they noticed me coming towards them and they didn't seem happy about it. They looked scared. I saw three girls walk towards them and hug them. I stopped walking and turned around.

"Why didn't you keep walking towards them?" Mason asked.

"I don't want to interrupt," I said.

"You wanna ride on my back?" He asked.

"Yes!! I haven't rode on your back in days!!" I said. He stopped so I could jumped on his back. We started walking home and we saw a car pull up next to us. I noticed it was Shawn and them.

"Do you want a ride?" Shawn asked.

"No we are fine walking," I said

"Skylar, the house is a few miles away. Get in the damn car," Shawn said.

"I'll take the risk of walking. I need to get back into shape anyway," I said.

"Get in the fucking car!!!!!" Shawn yelled causing me to jump. Me and Mason got in the car and I didn't even bother to look up.

"So what did you guys do today Sky?" Shawn asked.

"Can you please stop the car," I said.

"I'm not letting you walk," he said.

"Fine then drive faster," I said.

"Can you answer my question?" He asked.

"No," I said. We rode in silence. We finally reached the houses and I got out of the car. I walked hand in hand with Mason.

"Bye beautiful," I heard Carter say.

"Bye handsome," I said. We walked inside and Mason looked sad.

"What's wrong babe?" I asked

"I just got a text from my mom. She wants me on the next flight home today," He said

"Oh," I said. He got on the computer and got his plane ticket. Shawn came knocking on the door.

"Hey," He said.

"Can you give me and Mason a ride to the airport," I asked.

"Yea," He said. Mason grabbed his bags and put everything in the car. I left a note for my brother and then got in the car. We drove to the sound of the radio and that's it. We finally reached the airport.

"I'm gonna miss you," He said.

"I'm gonna miss you more," I said.

"I hate this!" He said.

"Who knows maybe I'll end up moving back someday," I said.

"I'll be waiting for that day," He said. We hugged for the longest time and my heart hurt knowing that this will be my last time hugging him for a while. A tear streamed down my face and I quickly wiped it away. We pulled away from our hugged and kissed. We pulled away from what seemed like hours.

"I love you," He said.

"I love you more," I said. He let go of my hand and got on the plane.

"You ok?" Shawn asked.

"Let's just go before I start crying," I said. We walked to the car and started driving.

"I'm sorry he had to leave," Shawn said.

"Its fine," I said. He stopped the car on the side of the road.

"Why did you stop?" I asked. Next thing I knew his lips touched mine.
