"I'd rather be alone than put you on a throne and lose my faith in smoke and mirrors. Black painted eyes, cover the lies. It's time you threw away your cruel disguise." ~ Smoke and Mirrors

*Katrina's POV*
The world was shaking, like an 8.0 earthquake had hit the hotel. But it wasn't an earthquake, it was me. My scream was like that of a banshee. Mirrors around the room shattered. People cowered, covering their ears and the sound reverberated around the room. Walls cracked and debris fell from the ceiling, some of it even hitting the soldiers. To me, the sound was muddled, as though someone had stuffed cotton in my ears. My vision was red, like the blood that splattered the glass in front of me, and it felt like fire was in my veins, in the best way possible, the fire fueling my rage and pain, turning it into power.
Jacobs was the only soldier left standing when my scream ran out, cutting off like a bad microphone. I stood, facing him as he faced me. He seemed completely unaffected by the chaos around him, not even wincing at the scream like everyone else had. It was like he was immune.
He smiled at me, amused, obviously reading my confusion. He tapped what appeared to be a watch on his wrist.
"Nifty little device I've got here," he spoke smoothly. "Protects me from magic. Specially made by none other than Fear himself."
"Fear doesn't exist," Andy growled, standing behind me. I could tell he was scowling, even without looking at him. "It's a stupid make believe idea that Johnson pushed in everyone's head. Johnson is behind all this, not your god."
"Believe what you wish," Jacobs chuckled sinisterly. "His gift protects me from blasphemers like you."
"Not from this," a voice said. I only barely registered the words before a shot rang out and Jacobs collapsed to the ground in a heap, revealing the slim figure of CC standing over him, holding a gun.
"CC!" I exclaimed in relief. He smiled slightly, immediately turning to help Ash and Jake up, who were both still dazed from my scream. Andy pressed the button to unseal the door and I felt a wash of relief brush over me as I heard the slight hiss of the air locks release and saw the door begin to open.
Tears began to run down my cheeks again as I took in Jinxx's limp form on the floor. I heard CC curse in surprise and sadness from behind me.
"No..." he said, disbelief obvious in his voice.
"Jacobs shot him," I said, answering the unasked question as I crouched down beside his body, pulling his head into my lap. Andy sat down beside me, putting an arm around me. Despite being so pissed at him, it felt good to have him there for comfort. "He shot him when I wouldn't come out of the bunker."
The others came to sit with me, tears and disbelief in all their eyes. I looked down at Jinxx, his face frozen in pain and blood trickling down from his mouth, not to mention the gaping hole in his neck. I sobbed slightly.
"It's not fair. He didn't deserve this," I cried.
I could still hear his voice, giving me advice and comforting me even when Andy wasn't there. He was one of the greatest people in my life, and knowing he was gone felt like someone had ripped apart of my life away. I wanted him back.
"Give me your hands," I commanded the group, wiping the tears from my face in determination.
"Kat," Jake began in warning.
"I have to try," I said, looking up at him. "I have to know or I'll never forgive myself. I have to try to bring him back."
"Are you even strong enough?" Andy asked, perhaps a hint of worry in his voice.
