"I bleed for you! Forever I will lie awake. I would Die For You! I see the truth. I've given you my heart to break. I would Die for you!" ~ Die For You

*Katrina's POV*

Have you ever been in a situation where so many emotions are running through your body that you just don't know what to do with yourself? Have you ever felt so helpless, so defeated, that it feels as if something has squeezed the air from your lungs? You feel like your heart has been ripped out and you're left with nothing but a gaping hole that aches so much that you just want to curl into a ball and hide. You just want to hide in the corner of a dark room and disappear in the nothingness because you just know you're a lost cause. But at the same time, have you ever been so angry that you feel like your nerves are on fire and you can almost see your vision turn red? You feel so livid that you know if you even try to speak that you'll end up screaming profanities or that if you so much as flinch, you'll end up doing something you'll regret.

That is how I felt in that moment.

I'm dreaming. That's what I kept thinking. There was no way we could have that bad of luck. There was no way that they, two of my close friends, were there, tied to poles, in the middle of the street, with a psychopathic policeman ready to point guns at them.

I my eyes were the size of the moon as my hand moved to cover my gaping mouth. I felt my coffee slip between my fingers and crash to the cement. Not that anyone noticed. All eyes in the crowd were on the five people in the street.

Ashley and Jinxx didn't look up. Their heads hung low, their shoulders slumped with their wrists tied with rope in front of them around the poles.

I glanced at Andy beside me. His black fringe poked out under his hood as he stood stiff. His jaw was clenched, making his jawline even more prominent as his blue eyes glared coldly at the scene. I could see his eyes flitting across the street, analyzing every possibility. I didn't know what would happen, and neither did he.

Officer Jacobs stepped towards the younger boy with the green streaked hair. He spoke with a strong voice to the crowd as his heavy boots thudded against the ground.

"For defying the laws set forth by our leader, President Johnson, I hereby sentence these four outlaws to death."

I felt myself gasp in shock as his skilled hand pulled a black pistol from his holster. He pressed the short barrel of the gun to the head of the young boy. The boy looked up and at the crowd as he bit his lower lip. He didn't struggle. He knew what was to happen.

The girl beside him, however, began to tug against the rope, screaming profanities at the officer. He turned and pointed the gun at her. "Shut up or I'll make sure that this isn't quick," He shouted. The girl immediately clamped her mouth shut.

He turned back to the boy and pressed the gun to his head again. The street was so quiet that I was afraid to so much as breathe. I pressed my eyes shut and resisted the urge to cover my ears. I felt like a little kid. If I couldn't see it, then it wasn't happening.

But it was. The shot ringing out and echoing across the buildings was proof of that horrifying reality. I opened my eyes to see the boy's figure slumped over, lifeless. A dark liquid began to pool from the drooping head onto the ground. I felt tears began to rush to my eyes as I took in the sight. A boy, young and innocent, was just killed. Murdered. That word echoed through my brain as I realized the truth. This was murder. He was innocent. This was so wrong. Everything about this was wrong. But nobody said a thing. It seemed as if the crowd didn't even react to the atrocity. They were emotionless as the body of an innocent boy lie dead in the street at the hand of a Police Officer. What had our world become?
