Chapter 9: Justice has been served

Marilyn let out a loud wail as she felt the needle become one with her flesh. It felt like it was going on forever. The needle felt so long and she was sure it would come out the other side of her arm. When the needle seized to move any further she felt relief for a mere second until she felt the liquid from the tube spread through her arm.

"S-stop! Please stop!" She cried. The pain was excruciating. The liquid spreading through her arm was heavy and felt more like cement than liquid. She didn't know what it was but she knew it wasn't anything beneficial to her health.

She couldn't help but ask why? Why was this happening to her? What had she ever done wrong to deserve this? She had her whole life ahead of her. There was so much she wanted to do in life. So many unfulfilled dreams. She couldn't die this way she didn't even say goodbye to Lucas, the love of her life.

Her head fell back against the back of the chair and she soon realized that she didn't have any control over it. She tried to prop it back up but it didn't budge. At that moment she felt her limbs and legs go numb. Something was very wrong.

"Whaddue...do...twa meh?" Her ability to form a coherent sentence was gone. Her mind was fuzzy and she could no longer see straight.

She was panicking on the inside but to Judd it just look like she was slouching in the chair with her eyes open.

Judd looked down at the woman in the chair. "I'm sorry Marilyn. It wasn't supposed to come to this." Judd stated sincerely. "I told Lucas to give me what I wanted and if he didn't I would bring harm upon you. Lucas decided to play with your life and not take my threat seriously. He thinks I don't know that he has men watching me miles away." He leaned in closer as if to tell her a secret. "But what he fails to realize is I've had three long years to be mad and unlike any other criminals I'm not letting my anger run this operation but my logic and reason, and that's much worse." He leaned back. "I really thought if I threatened him with your life he would be more receptive to listen to my threats but I guess I was wrong." Once again he felt sorry for what he had to do, but he didn't have much of a choice. Lucas didn't give him any.

Did Lucas really think he was going to turn his son into a lab rat, kill twelve people and take credit for the cure he made and get away with it? Judd didn't want to do this. He didn't want to become this person but he had no choice. He needed his son back and Lucas needed to rot in prison for eternity. Lucas rotting in a cold dark cell, far away without any food or water was all it took to wash any remorse he was feeling for Marilyn and get back to doing his job.

"Sir!" A voice from the door said. When Judd turned around he saw one of the other security guards who had worked at level three.

Once Judd hashed a plan to destroy Lucas it was very easy for him to find help, especially since Lucas had so many enemies. Enemies who had harbored the same hatred for him. This guard in particular didn't lose anyone at level three but he knew exactly what the Beauton's did and it disgusted him. How could another human being experiment on another human? Well, Lucas wasn't really all that human anyway. "Lucas' men are on their way we need to leave now!"

"How far are they?" Judd asked leaving Marilyn's side to pack up his things. He had come too far and his plan for revenge was just starting, there was no way he would risk getting caught.

"They're at least a mile away. We need to leave now!" The man in the doorway turned to look at the lifeless body of Marilyn. She sat in the chair, slouched, eyes closed and unconscious. He immediately grew angry. "I thought you said we weren't going to kill anyone. You were suppos-"

"Calm down, she's not dead. It's an effect of the disease. Now let's go!"

"The disease? Please tell me you didn't infect her with same disease from Level three that Lucas has a cure to!"
