They arrived at the Waldorf Astoria in record time. It was a 10 minute drive from Marilyn's home but it felt like it took at most 5 minutes. Maybe they were nervous, Marilyn for her own reasons, and Lucas because deep down he knew telling his family he was engaged wasn't going to be as easy as he made Marilyn believe.

The bright flashes of camera lights were already in full affect outside of the hotel and only got more eccentric as the car pulled up to the curb. Lucas Van Beauton was the CEO of BEAU Research Facility, one of the largest research facilities in America. The company was started by Grant Beauton (his father) when he was surprisingly only 21yrs old. Regardless of how cruel Grant was his efforts to rid the world of its volatile diseases was strikingly impressive.

At first BEAU was just a facility for medical research but when Lucas became CEO he brought more researches into BEAU like astronomy studies, genetics, cloning and weaponry. This made BEAU one of the most profitable family-owned business' in America. Tonight Grant and Lucas, along with his brothers Luke and Laken who also ran their own minor branches of BEAU, were being honored for dedicating 46 years to research. Laken ran every chain of BEAU pharmacies from the east to west coast while Luke handled all BEAU hospitals. This was the biggest banquet the Beauton's has ever had with over 275 guest. Every dignitary and doctoral level individuals in the medical and entrepreneur business were present.

Lucas stepped out of the limo and reporters went crazy yelling questions at him. Lucas had never been serious enough about any woman to bring her as a date to a BEAU gala so everyone was surprised when he turned around and held his hand out for Marilyn. Paparazzi were shouting questions at him left and right. Lucas did as was taught from since a child and simply smiled and waved, Marilyn followed suit. People had said that since the dashing billionaire never had a female on his arm, when he did, she would have to be stunning. And Marilyn did not disappoint.

Lucas hadn't even realized how beautiful she looked in that black gown. The dresses neckline was low but not plunging. She however had a high split that came all the way up to her mid-thigh and with every step she gracefully took it revealed her sexy smooth legs. Her hair was done up in a nice, sloppy yet elegant bun accented with a few ornaments. She rarely ever wore jewelry but tonight she had on bright diamond studs that matched her watch, and of course she wore her engagement ring. Lucas made sure he was standing on her left side so he could do his best at hiding the ring with his hand since he knew Marilyn wasn't comfortable at telling the whole word their news just yet, especially seeing how his own family didn't even know.

"I didn't get a chance to tell you but you look absolutely stunning tonight." He whispered in her ear while walking into the hotel.

"There's no need. I know I look good." She said flipping her hair over her shoulder. Lucas was dying of laughter mainly because he knew she wasn't a cocky superficial woman, but her pretending to be was hysterical. That's what he loved about her the most. He was just about to sarcastically respond when...

"Well, it's about time you two showed up!" The Beauton's personal assistant Donald was standing in the foyer of the lobby, clearly waiting for the couple to arrive. Since Donald was in charge of planning the banquet, Lucas had to tell him Marilyn was coming. Donald had worked for his family for a very long time and was closest with Lucas out of all the Beauton's. When Lucas told Donald of Marilyn's existence he had insisted he meet her--after clearly not believing that Lucas was serious about anything other than BEAU-and in doing so Marilyn and Donald had become acquaintances.

"Everyone is going crazy looking for you Lucas!"

"And by everyone you mean just you." Lucas said as he took notice of what Donald was wearing. Lucas had given Donald one of the company credit cards to buy whatever tuxedo he wanted for tonight but he stood in front of Lucas in the same suit he wore to work this morning. Knowing Donald, he probably didn't use the card at all and came straight from work to the gala. He worked too hard for the Beauton's. He takes his job very seriously, which is exactly why BEAU kept him around for so long.
