The room was dark and quiet except for the consistent beeping in the hospital room, which was starting to annoy Lucas to no end. If it wasn't the only thing keeping Marilyn alive he would've ripped it out of the wall hours ago. Instead he sat in the hospital chair by her bedside like he had for the past two days. He hadn't left her side for anything. Not to eat, not to handle BEAU business, not to shower, not to deal with the press, or shower and surprisingly not even to find Judd Kenton and make him pay for what he'd done to Marilyn.

Kenton was bound to pay whether or not Marilyn woke up. Lucas decided hours ago that if she did wake up and was alright he would have him killed for causing her pain. If she didn't wake up he would be found and tortured by Lucas' own hand's for as long as he saw fit. Either way it was a lose lose situation for Kenton.

Lucas realized that Marilyn was the keeper of not only his heart but his sanity. When he first saw her at the warehouse he was bubbling over with joy, he couldn't believe she was alright. Then when he began to realize that she wasn't alright, because she wasn't responding, his joy and happiness was replaced with anger. And not long after, that same anger was replaced with insanity and the zombie-like state he was in now. He felt like he was going crazy. Having Marilyn near but yet so far away was torturing him. As he looked on Marilyn he saw that her once sun-kissed skin had turned to a pale white. Her body barely made a dent in the sheets covering her body. Earlier he had touched her hand and she felt as cold as ice. Seeing her like this made his heart constrict painfully. It was all his fault.

He wanted to jump out of this seat and get back to his senses but he didn't have enough strength to do it on his own.

He felt weak.

He felt numb.

He felt stupid.

Would it have been so wrong if he listened to Kenton and his threats. Maybe then he would be giving Marilyn a tour of their new house instead of being here watching her fight for her life.

And to add insult to injury no doctor knew what was wrong with her. Lucas had sent some of her charts and blood samples to BEAU headquarters all over the world so they could see if it was anything from level three. The doctors had told him that her symptoms were like those of the L3 disease but the cure they had did not work on her. If anything it worsened her condition. They did however figure out that she was in a coma and whether or not she woke up depended on her. It was crazy how a team of the worlds most advanced doctors couldn't help her but a deranged scientist gone mad man could.

His cellphone echoed in the quiet room, again. He didn't have to look to see who it was. Luke had been calling him for the past hour. This had to be his fiftieth time calling. Lucas would have usually let it ring out, happy for any other sounds in the silent room, but right now he didn't want to hear anything.

He would've just put it on vibrate but knowing Luke's persistent nature he would just call back again until Lucas answered. He decided to take out the battery completely silencing his phone.

The room was quiet for about ten more minutes until he heard commotion outside the door. He was too depressed to pay any attention to it. He just hoped that the security outside would follow his orders and not let anyone in.

Luke's voice was very clear outside the room door and he knew he was trying to get in. He hoped he didn't because he didn't want his brother seeing him like this. He wasn't himself and the last thing he needed was his older brother telling him how strong he needed to be right now.

Even after hearing Luke threaten the security guards, bang on the door and yell for Lucas to get his rear outside he did not fix his appearance. He didn't open any curtains so the room wouldn't look so depressing and he didn't run a hand through his hair so he would appear half decent.
