Dread In Daylight

Frantically, I scurried through the already crowded streets of New York City. My black buckled shoes thumped a little as I ran towards the Hamilton's' house. I had a mission. An important mission as well. When, my dear friend had not showed his face earlier I began to fret of what has happened. I had rowed myself over to the sight to see if he traveled over there himself but to no prevail... Not only he missing but the other man, the opponent, had also apparently gone missing. I had to search for him. There was a scheduled duel...and neither men had came.
Women and men scrambled out of the way as I raced through the flood of human bodies all around. The sun glared down at me, causing me to sweat more than I normally would have. But then a certain building towered a little over me. I have arrived at the home of the Hamilton family.... God, I hope he is here...

I sat calmly on the sofa and unfolded the parchment that I had found on my dresser recently. I knew that it had to be from my husband. Sipping at my tea I carefully read over the paper... Tears dripped from my eyes heavily... No...Alexander...how could you do this to me...? I sobbed. Please...please tell me you are safe and well....please....
It was at that moment I heard a hard and quick knock at the front door. Shakily, I wiped the tears from my eyes and headed for the door. Standing anxiously in the doorway with sweat dripping from his forehead was Dr. Pendleton...
