Chapter 10
Where's My Father?
T. Burr. Jr.
I carefully reread what was on the piece of parchment, trembling. Before I acknowledged it, I found my hands crumpling the piece into a tight ball. My hands released it and it fell to the ground with a small noise.
My feet stomped upon the wooden planks of the floorboard, as I began to rifle through my belongings. I heard the thudding of footsteps coming towards my room. The door was thrown open abruptly and there stood my husband, with a look of concern spread across his face. I pretended not to notice and went back to taking my clothes and such out of the wardrobe
"For whatever reason are you in such a hurry? Packing away your belongings, also!" he exclaimed at me.
I grunted.
That letter told me of something I'm not too fond of hearing... My father... They told that he was missing! I have received a letter earlier from him stating that he will be in a duel! But this! They said he never even showed up! His opponent also seemed to be missing... Is it wrong that I suspect him of this doing? Probably! But, I have never been fond of him at all and I deem it plausible in such a situation! Ughh! Why does this happen to me?
The pain came back to my stomach and I was forced to collapse. Tears streamed down my eyes.
Joseph hurried over to comfort me.
I do not appreciate any of this at all...
I heard the crying of my son in the other room. With all my might I tried to get up and go to him but I was lead back to my bed by my husband. I had to lie down...
What will become of my father and I?
