Chapter 8

Is That Correct?

A. Hamilton

Burr and I nervously walked down the crowded sidewalk. I could feel the intensity of onlookers staring at us from the back of my head. It could be our normal attire or the way our hair lays behind our shoulders... On this particularly warm day, my hair was a tangled mess of grayed curls on my head. At least I have the relief of a simple ribbon holding it back...

In the midst of thoughts and my gaze moving to the surroundings to my left, I slammed into Burr. Quickly irritated I was about to shout at him, when I spotted what he was seeing...

There stood to what I presumed was a theater with...silhouettes of people in our fashion. What was struck me was the large lettering in which spelled out my last name. Confusion bubbled in my mind and I decided to dismiss it as a show actually about me. There was most certainly plenty other Hamilton's around...I-It cannot be me... Can it?!?

"Uh...," Burr muttered, "could this be about you??" I twitched not knowing the answer. We could always ask somebody for the answer... Correct?! How awful could it be to ask some folk?

"Perhaps...we could ask the young individuals out in the front of the theater?" I whispered in ear. To be honest with myself I am unsure to why we're acting secretive... Come to think of the situation it's probably the best...

Burr did not respond but hesitantly walked up to the theater. I followed behind with a slight burst of energy and decided to speak for him. But before I could say anything, a young girl made a peculiar sound and leaped up from her spot on the ground.

"OH. MY. GOD. Are you some cosplayers?! Reenactors?!?! Whatever you guys are... THOSE COSTUMES ARE AMAZING! WHERE THE FUCK DO YOU GET SHIT LIKE THAT THESE DAYS?? MY GOD! YOU LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE FUCKING ALEXANDER HAMILTON AND AARON BURR!" the girl hollered and gasped a little too loudly. "OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! CAN IT BE THAT YOU'RE THE REAL DEAL? I mean I know that sounds sooo stupid or something BUT SERIOUSLY! YOU BOTH, LIKE, WENT MISSING OR SOMETHING! SOOO, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!? HUH??? HUH?!?!"

That's when I decided this was an outrageous idea. Quickly, I grabbed Burr's arm and bolted away in a panicked flurry. Burr was yelling at me to stop but I could still hear that female's mad rants from way behind us. I had begun to believe she had followed us. A strange stairway to underground came into my view. Absentmindedly, I ran straight onto the mysterious stairway. That's when the sound of drums being played, people cheering and a loud screeching was heard. The sight before me caused one of the many episodes during this obscured exploit...
