Chapter 14
Waiting Is Difficult
T. Burr Alston
"I am afraid you don't understand, Joseph..." I murmured weakly as he spoon fed me porridge.
My health has been deteriorating each passing month. It has already been over one year since my father's disappearance and my concerns have only grown. There has been zero leads as to where he had gone to and my brain likes blames the other man missing. That scoundrel must have him... But, where could've he gone off to...
"Now, now, Theo, I know that you're worried. But, your father's a strong man he's alive. I know that!" Joseph tried to calm my nerves but failed to.
"He's got a problem with his mind... How is he supposed to deal with it and remain strong...? That bastard, Hamilton, has him! I just know it! I know it!" I spat.
"Oh...uh speaking of Hamilton, his wife had sent us a letter," Joseph spoke as he dove his hand into his pocket and brought up, waving, a letter.
"Gimme that!" I scowled, "What could that scoundrel's beloved possibly want from us?"
Joseph was familiar with my bouts of moods and shrugged it off. He's think that I am a sweet lil gal inside... I don't think that I am...
I tore open the letter hastily and my eyes scoured the page. With a glower I crumbled the measly scrap of parchment and flung it across the bedroom.
My husband stared with a surprised expression upon his face. Placing the bowl of soggy food on the nightstand, he opened his mouth to speak.
"What did it say?" he asked.
"It basically said how she was "terribly sorry that they couldn't find anything to help find my father or her precious Alexander"... God, I do hate her..." I hissed.
The room was silent for a few good moments before I spoke again.
"Perhaps, they're dead...and we'll see their decaying corpses floating down a river or something..."I muttered gloomily.
