Waking up to battering rams having a party inside your head is not pleasant. In fact, it's absolutely horrible.
Especially when the light hit my eyes as I opened them and I hissed, batting the air and stuffing my face back into my pillow.
It was only then that I felt the weight around my waist and the warmth at my back.
There was someone breathing into my neck.
Huh. Asher hadn't come to sleep over in my room for ages. Not since his last nightmare. Speaking of nightmares, I realized that I hadn't had a single one last night. Not one.
But I just yawned and tried stretching before turning to face Asher, whose face was inches from mine. That was, until my eyes alerted me that the face in front of mine was not my brother's whatsoever.
Ryan seemed to be draped all over me. His arm was around my waist, keeping me tucked into him as our legs intertwined. His face was buried in my hair, breathing deeply as he slept peacefully.
It took my brain a moment to register that Ryan Stryker was sleeping in my bed. When it did, I reacted appropriately.
By reacting appropriately, I mean that I let out a small shriek and pushed Ryan with all my dwindling morning strength, succeeding in pushing him off the bed.
Ryan landed onto the floor with a thump, eyes popping wide open in surprise.
'What in the name of mothers monkey milk was that for?!' He yelled out, voice raspy from disuse. Drool.
I snapped out of my thoughts as he stood up slowly, blanket dragging off of his body to showcase his shirtless abdomen. Dear God...
I gestured between us wordlessly for a moment, too shocked to take out any sounds and practically looking like a maniacal mime. Finally, I choked out my thoughts. 'What are you doing in my room?!' I hissed, nervously glancing towards the door.
Ryan yawned, stretching and I couldn't help but stare. His six pack stretched his glorious, rich skin, a light layer of sweat glistening here and there. Messy auburn hair coated his head, falling everywhere mischievously, and his jeans hung dangerously low on his hips. I've died and gone to heaven.
'Like what you see, Mad Girl?' Ryan smirked and I blinked, snapping out of my embarrassing trance. 'No,' I spat, 'its hideousness shocked my eyes. Now tell me, what are you doing here?!'
Ryan's smirk didn't waver as he ruffled his already crazy bed head hair. 'If I recall what happened correctly, you invited me to bed last night.'
My face went a bright, bright red. 'That's a lie!' I yelped, pointing an accusing finger at him, 'Not even drunk would I ever want to touch you!'
Ryan chuckled, 'Relax. You told me you didn't want me to go so I slept over. Great beer pong game though. You bashed me so good it was embarrassing.'
I groaned, grabbing my head in both my hands as I fell back down onto my bed. I couldn't remember much about last night. Just snippets.
Cheering crowds. Watching the ceiling pass by. Looking down at Ryan standing at the bottom of some stairs. A small ball bouncing over the rims of cups. A hand on my mouth and one around my waist. Running from someone out in the night. Taking a piggyback ride. Sand trickling through my fingers. Staring up at a beautiful starry night sky. Sapphire eyes locked with mine. Sitting on the floor in a mess of blankets. A familiar smirk.
