I smelt like smoke. And peppermint.

More specifically, I smelt like Ryan.

Why?

Because currently, I was pressed up against him in the changing room of a swimming shop.

I know. Confusing. Kind of a fangirl moment.

Not that I was fangirling about being in close confinement with Ryan. It was hell. Especially because we couldn't even speak other than shoot each other looks. Me furious ones and him amused ones.

Because we were hiding.

From who?

Good question.

There was this specific, kind of grumpy, kind of furious guard looking for us.

Apparently, mall guards don't like it when you try to steal their fake guns and make puns about them.

I know, stupid of us. It was Ryan's idea, no surprise there. Now we hid in the changing room of a swimming shop as that guard looked around for us, God knows where.

'You're an idiotic ass,' I hissed at Ryan, glaring up at him through my lashes, wiggling into a more comfortable position against him.

Who made changing rooms this tiny? You'd think this was a dwarf shop. No offense to the dwarves out there.

'Admit you're having fun,' Ryan grinned, 'after all, most girls would kill to be in a position like this with none other than me.'

I shot him a dry look, 'Yeah, kill themselves. I'm considering it too now, to be honest. I might as well give myself in. Anything is better than suffocating in your ego.'

He pouted and put a hand to his chest, above where his heart was, 'That hurt me right here.'

Rolling my eyes, I directed one eye to the crack between the doors and peered out in hopes of seeing whether Grumpy the Guard was still there. The shop was weirdly deserted, not a single customer or sales person in sight.

I suppose that worked in our favor, considering no shop would take kindly to two teenagers slamming into their store and running straight towards the dressing rooms. Even I could see what that seemed like.

We'd have been kicked out faster than Ryan could compliment himself. And that's saying a lot.

'You know what,' I finally sighed, clicking open the lock as I moved away from Ryan, 'The coast is pretty much clear. I'm leaving.'

'But this was so fun!' Ryan whined, following me out of the stuffy changing rooms and leaning against the entrance, arms crossed. I rolled my eyes at him and turned to my phone as it dinged with a message.

'Hey, look,' Ryan spoke and I turned towards him, slipping my phone back onto my pocket without checking the message; making a mental note to check it later. Only to let out a shriek of fright and jump backwards.

Ryan had been nose to nose with me, eyes trained on mine. But what had thrown me were the huge, fish-like goggles strapped around his eyes, enlarging them to impossible widths.
