Jared showed up at my house the next day, hoodie on and a basketball in hand. His grin was infectious.
'What are you doing here?' I asked him, as soon as I'd flung open my door to his chocolate eyes and dimpled smile.
'Hey Prankster,' he grinned, 'we're going to play ball.'
I blinked at him for a minute before squealing in happiness and bolting upstairs to get my sweats and sneakers.
Five minutes later we were strolling down the sidewalk to the basketball court, my messy bun bobbing as I skipped next to Jared.
'I didn't think you'd actually come,' I admitted and he gave me a funny look.
'Of course I would have come,' he smiled, 'who can resist your puppy dog eyes.'
I grinned cheekily and snatched the basketball from him as soon as we stepped inside the court. 'What should we do first?'
He ran a hand through his hair, eyebrows furrowed, before deciding. 'Let's play 21 pointer.'
I nodded and strolled over to the hoop, ball bouncing in hand. I went first and aimed from a 2 pointer.
It went in neatly. Jared whistled, grabbing the ball. 'Not bad,' he winked and I stuck my tongue out at him.
'How's the photography going?'
He threw a perfect hoop and passed me the ball, 'Like usual. There's not much to do this time around. I do it for fun though.'
I nodded, focusing on my hoop and soon we were in the middle of an intense pointer match.
It's safe to say I actually played pretty well considering it was Jared I was up against.
We half crawled out of the court two hours later, dripping with sweat and panting. 'Wanna grab something to eat?'
I nodded eagerly and as soon as we'd freshened up at my house, we were zooming down the road in Jared's car towards the nearest fast food restaurant.
It turned out to be Burger King. Pulling up, I was practically jumping in my seat with my need for fries and a chocolate shake.
'Woah,' Jared laughed, 'take it easy, Prankster. We're here. You'll be getting your food soon enough.'
I was already out of the car. Stepping inside the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the large line of people at the counter.
The second was a familiar head of messy auburn curls.
'Ryan,' I yelled and waved, drawing his attention and he turned, mouth splitting into a huge grin. It transformed to a frown as he zoned in on the person coming to stand beside me.
I struggled my way to him through the crowds, the smell of sizzling foods assaulting my nose. That was when I noticed he wasn't alone.
Standing next to him were Sam and Ian, apparently in a heated argument over something on the menu. There was someone else there too, but they were scrutinizing the large board behind the counter and had their back to me.
Even from here I could make out the buzz cut and swirling tattoos crawling up his arm.
'Faye,' Ryan grinned when I was finally standing in front of him, 'Hungry again?'
I glared at him. 'You're here for the exact same reason I am douchbag so zip it.'
He opened his mouth to reply but directed his attention to Jared as he came to stand beside me again.
