Turns out when Ian meant going for a swim, he didn't mean the hotel pool.

I paused at the door to the outdoor pool, hand on hip and eyes squinting in an effort to spot our friends.

Other than a lifeguard on duty who seemed bored to death and a few rowdy ten year olds splashing around in the jacuzzi, there was no one else soaking in the afternoon sun.

Instead, I heard their raucous laughter from the hotel lobby and frown at Rhea, moving towards the sound.

They stood scattered across the lobby. Avril and Caleb were picking out some desert from the display in the nearby hotel restaurant while Ian and Axel pointed at something in the newspaper they held and guffawed with laughter.

Ryan stood at the door with Sam, arms crossed and eyes bright as he laughed quietly at something the latter had said.

I paused to watch him for a moment, biting my lip almost unconsciously as I noticed how the sunlight caught his hair and his shirt clung to him in a way that drew way too many appreciating glances.

Scowling at a woman standing nearby and not even trying to hide the fact that she was blatantly staring at Ryan, I marched towards him just as the woman sidled up to him and said something in a sultry manner.

My limbs felt cold for some reason, and my breathing sped up, but I ignored the sensations as I watched Ryan.

Ryan glanced at her and said something politely, shaking his head, but she brought her hand up and placed the tip of her finger upon his forearm.

I'd just planned to rip the newspaper from Ian's hands and set upon the bitch chatting up my guy when said male glanced up and saw me, his face lighting up.

His eyes did an appreciative once over and he blinked, before breaking out into a grin.

Ignoring the girl trying to talk him up, he side-stepped her and made his way to me, meeting me halfway.

I was ready for the girl to sneer at me when she turned to see what had caught Ryan's attention but she only winced apologetically when she saw me and shrugged, moving away.

Huh, I guess we all gotta shoot our shot. Props to her I suppose.

I still wanted to rip her eyebrows off though. Yikes, I needed to calm down.

"Finally," Ryan said, drawing my attention away from the girl walking away, "I thought Rhea had murdered you up there."

"Please," Rhea snorted, hands on hips and eyes on Sam, who'd drifted away towards Ian and Axel, "I think my first attempt at murder would be far classier than a hotel room."

Ryan laughed, sliding his arm around my waist and pulling me closer almost unconsciously — an action that warmed me up inside at how comfortable he was doing.

"Hey Ian!" I yelled out, waving my arm to catch his attention, "I thought we were going to the pool for a swim!"

He lifts his head up from the newspaper and laughs, waving his hands around to gesture at whatever was around us.

"We're in Vegas baby! Who cares about pools! We're going to the beach!"

At this I frown in confusion, glancing from Ian to the lobby doors and back again.

"Vegas has a beach?" I finally question, shocked at the revelation and twisting towards Ryan.

"It has more than one," he replied, flicking the tip of my nose gently with one finger and I laugh, batting his hand away.

Caleb sidled up to us, a chocolate tart in hand that he ate as he spoke.

"Guys can we leave before the sun says bye bye!" he yelled, catching everyone's attention and they migrated towards the door, piling out after each other.
